Risk versus reward doesn't always have to be about ISK

Years ago I read a book "1001 ways to Reward Your Employees Without Giving Cash". It explained how monetary rewards are short term and sometimes not as valued as non-monetary rewards.

This practice prevails in other games. Just think of some of the crazy stuff you might have done to achieve a title or collect an unlock in other games. I do not recommend this approach for Eve as it doesn't fit the theme of the game.

But I do think the wonder of space does. Would I and others risk travelling the lengths of EvE to view a mind blowing celestial that can't be adequately captured in a screen shot? Hell yeah. If one of these randomly appeared and had to be scanned down to view would I travel the lengths of space just to find it? You bet.

I love the shinies, but I love depth more. Do other people think EvE could use more depth? (Note: I am talking about content players cannot create)

I think this means highsec pve shouldn't reward isk.

This post was loving crafted by a member of the Official GoonWaffe recruitment team. Improve the forums, support this idea: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=345133

Players create depth in any MMO, but especially this one.

I saw a pilot traveling through space who had just joined the Brave Newbies. I transfered 100+mil isk into her wallet. I got a convo about 10 mins later.
That guy turned out to be a nice person, was actually contemplating not resubbing after his year was up because he just never had any time to play and was sick of grinding low level missions. He was immensely thankful and was able to buy several ships to play with. It was a good feeling to know that i kept more targets in game.
A few days later I ran an alt around and gave between 5 and 10 mil isk to every Brave Newbie I saw. Im sure a few were vet alts who didnt need the isk, but the 20 or so who convo'd me or sent me mails were happy to have a random guy donate and couldnt believe people were that nice.
Sometimes Im not always a prick Big smile
There was no risk involved for me..but i did feel I got some reward.

True Story.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Unbelievable. You made a "nerf hi sec" whine out of the OP. Nice.

Quite agree,

Remove NPCs (except Concord as they make the clever clogs cry)

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Built by CCP

Yes it is an expansive almost predatory topic that seems to pop up everywhere in every kind of thread no matter what the topic.

Let's add that to the list of reasons to nerf Hi-Sec people in favor of it agree on.

* Risk vs Reward
* AFK Gameplay
* Effort
* Rhubarb
* Ugg Boots
* Hats over three feet in height
* Italian Opera
* The 18th Century Opium Wars
* Bronze
* Handstands
* The Steel Workers Organizing Committee
* Representative Democracy
* Pottery
* The first three seasons of Star Trek Voyager
* River Trade
* A Quarter Pounder without cheese
* Collectivized State Farms
* Yurts
* Fire Kindling and/or Kindle Book Readers
* Goat Herding
* The International Space Station
* The Industrial Revolution
* Cord or Rope used as a Belt
* Knock off Roomba's
* The last episode of Macgyver
* Aerostats
* Roman Amphitheaters
* Chamber Pots
* Beauty is its own Reward

You missed the JFK conspiracy, the Moon landings, watergate, the holey donut saga and the Ginger preservation society conspiracy.

I do this for many reasons. I do it because I believe it is right. I do it because I will profit by it. These all consolidate into one reason: I do it because I can.

I thought those were reasons for nerfing Tech.

Well those and Rhubarb. Rhubarb is a harsh mistress.

No, rhubarb is being buffed with the upcoming 'Custard 2.0' patch.
Maybe they're reasons for nerfing tech though

WoW has player created content, FYI. And I am all for player created content. The real world is full of "player created" content and yet there is a majesty to the Grand Canyon that draws millions of people each year.

Player created content obviously isn't enough to get people to roam. Maybe if players were allowed to build you might find me in null to view the "Great Space Pyramid of G1D0-G" or "The Hanging Gardens of G-M4GK". But players do not build wonders in EvE, only CCP can.

Although we are immortal in EvE we are not gods.
