Sleepers and Templar One (semi-spoilers)

I am currently reading Templar One and I just finished the scene where Grious shows Falek one of the memories of the sleepers. During this scene Grious says "One perspective among trillions in a civilization fighting for its life.... You have unleashed an Armageddon in their world and your own."

This scene makes me wonder if what we are doing to them in the WH's is justified, or did we encroach upon their territory and just start taking what we pleased.

Please note I never portrayed the sleepers being "good".

Marcus, not Falek.

And yes, what we do in the wormholes can be seen as genocide.

What I do against (insert any faction here) is tanamount to Genocide. I have literally eaten breakfast while burning Guristas, Serpentis and Sanshas. Capsuleers are walking Genocide machines, and we are appropriately worshiped and feared.

Not all of us are ok with the idea of attacking a race unprovoked. I understand attacking the pirates, but not a race struggling to survive.

All Sansha are trying to do is reproduce and stay alive, in their own special way of course.

But yes, one wonders how the Sleepers intend to strike back.

The spatial rift that they tore in New Caldari might very well be a clue. Moreover, how many actual sleepers do you think we fight in Wormhole space. It seems to me that most sleeper vessels are drones, the only actual 'sleeper' that has shown any hint of being a human or similar to a capsuleer is the Awakened Infomorph, and thus far she's been operating alone (beside an alliance with Rogue Drones and commanding legions of sleeper drones.)

If Templar One tells us one thing, is that most of the Sleepers are still living up to their name and are sleeping. They are hooked up in stasis pods living in their VR world. We've pulled out a number of them by removing their implants while they were still inside there, causing the problem with the first gen dust soldiers. The implants still contain part of the person they belonged to, it's like getting a second set personality and set of memories implanted into you.

Furthermore, every structure, every enclave we destroy destroys part of their VR world, and even though most people in game don't bother because it doesn't drop loot, the book suggests that many raids involves the destruction of their infrastructure. So chances are, sooner or later they will wake up and if they do and they hold a grudge against us for destroying their Utopian world, gods help us.

We may have seen one already with the Awakened infomorph, and the bad news is, they have FTL tech that makes our warp drives, jump drives, and stargates obsolete antiques ( though I don't think they were the ones who initially invented it ) , meaning they could show up anywhere with no warning and send in massive amounts of forces and wipe out anything in sight and get out before anyone could react.

Even better, the spatial rifts (and technically wormholes as well) could open up near a planets surface and tear it to pieces (Terminus Stream anyone?) , or inside a star to destabilize it and make it go nova.

In this dark void we are like brilliant stars, holding within us both the creative and destructive power to bring a new dawn upon worlds or plunge them into eternal darkness.

If this is the case and we have been attacking at random, with little reguard to them, then it would seem I will have to drop my T3 ship... unless all we are doing is drestroying their drones. But then again, Tykari stated that the raids end up in the destruction of their structures.

In fact, they've done this... by accident perhaps, but remember the trailer for the wormhole expansion, an ORE held system got hit by a blast wave from the star.

Later in the future, when the sleepers wake up....how will New Eden deal with their far superior technology? Maybe the Jovians will become playable and give us some help?

The destroyed planets too...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Why can't we align ourselves with the Sleepers and fight to protect them from raiders? oh yeh, because roleplaying sucks and has no real rewardPirate

You can. Wormhole space is lawless. You can engage anyone who goes to a site. The reward is you've just destroyed someone raiding the site and saved the Sleepers...

Perhaps a RP corp will begin honouring contracts and bounties with fiscal rewards to keep these Sleeper sites safe and provide employment for those interested.

RP only sucks if you don't apply some creativity.

Are you sure those were cause by the sleepers? Because the events you are talking about unfolded just before the unstable wormholes leading to sleeper space have been discovered, until then we had next to no contact with the sleeper civilization, only somewhat with their artifacts left in New Eden.

from my memory. the explosions that caused the wormholes. were caused by rogue drones that were harvesting i believe isogen 5 or somthing like that that was only found in systems with a blue sun. and when the minmatar captain convinced the rogue drone to destroy the super Armageddon that had a ancient super weapon. that killed an entire fleet with 1 shot. this ship was parked at a stockpile and the drones blew it and somthing happened and all the stock pile thru out the galaxy blew and cause worm holes to show.
