HI! I have been looking evreywhere that can tell me what key fires the guns and I looked under combat in the key control but there is nothing there that would indicate weapons fire,

I am sorry but I am a complete newbie to this game and its very over whelming.

Perhaps you should do the tutorial at the start?

Please ask in-game in Rookie Help and in Help Chat. There are plenty of people who can answer your questions within seconds. For questions that do not get answered try the section New Citizen Q&A.

To your question: weapons are F1 through F8, but you can also rearrange the modules. See also the ESC-menu and under short cuts for further info.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

The modules which are shown as graphical circles just to the right bottom centre of screen (where you click to activate guns, shield harderners etc) all have keys assigned to them, top left circle is F1 top left second circle F2 etc etc if you hover the mouse over the circle it should tell you the key combination to activate/deactivate.

EvE is not a primitive arcade game...

Run the tutorials. You can't just hop into the game and think
you can play ... it's not that easy. Actually, it's not easy at all.

Also: http://wiki.eveonline.com

Use the search. It'll help you a lot.

Run the Aura tutorial, and once you have done that it leads to some npcs called "career agents" their missions show you everything you need to know about what you can do in EVE and how to do it apart from PVP.

There is also a section of the forum called New Player Experience which will have more information for new players. The general discussion part of the forum where you are at the moment can be a shark tank at times :D

Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them.

The F1 to F8 keys are your high slots, holding ALT and using the same F1 to F8 keys will be your mids, and I believe CTRL and the F1 to F8 keys are the lows.

Welcome to New Eden.

This is true until you figure out that you can move them around ;)

As it's been said; you install "modules" on your ship hull

- the high slots typically accept weapons, but the ship may have other limitations such as the number of gun turrets or missile launchers allowed in those high slots. You have to read the ship description and details to figure out what weapons are recommended.

- the medium slots typically accept shields, afterburners, cap rechargers, or other various electronic warfare modules.

- the low slots typically accept armor, or various capacitor, hull, tracking, or damage-enhancing modules.

Once you undock, all the modules that require activation that you've installed will have an icon in those circles next to the big HUD circle at the bottom of the screen, and you activate them as appropriate with F1-F8, Alt- and Ctrl-F1-F8.

Ctrl-click on a target in the overview to lock it, then click it, then F1-F8 to activate weapons on it, webifier, warp scrambler etc. You can also activate your shields or armor at this time, and if you have afterburner, activate that too.

Yeah, one of the few games where the tutorials aren't for the kids trying to learn the basics of video games. In Eve the tutorials are for the adults who would like to step up to a new level from whatever game they used to think was challenging.Smile

Take the time and do them, things will eventually begin to make sense.

P.S. Remember to load your guns, missile launchers or laser cannons as well. They don't fire so well without ammo.

Oh gawd, I hate to be the first troll in this so far rather clean thread, but:

I think I would have gone with 'Makalu alt detected'...

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Since you are a total newbie, I just want to make sure you aren't over looking the fact you can click on the module icons on your HUD (with your mouse) to activate the guns/modules.

hes maybe trying to fire on other players, there's a fail safe to prevent that since shooting other people in highsec will result in the loss of your ship.

edit: not that this should discourage you from shooting other people, in highsec.

OP, the quoted post contains relevant information. But in addition, you'll want to lock the target either by ctrl+clicking them or using the overview.
