Logistical Problems with P.I.

Right now Jita is 19 stops away and to support 1 planet or even 2 planets (production colonies) takes a lot of time. I have to remain in my system to do P.I. as its the only place I get 5% tax which is a huge saving!

So, is there an easier way to do P.I.? I have to buy the P3s and P1s to build my P4s.

Buying a freighter is out of the question! Obviously I can't really spec an industrial for cargo support as I need to fit my ship to avoid enemy fleets or at least run away from them :)

I don't really understand what you are asking.
You don't need to be in your system to update your PI installations, but you need to be there to get your products ofc.
What enemy fleets are you talking about in high sec? If you are under war dec, you shouldn't fly around in a T1 hauler (even less a freighter with competent griefers around). And Jita isn't the only place to flog PI stuff.

try a closer trade hub (Dodixie, Amarr, Rens) or one of the secondary hubs.

Alternatively, make the P1s you need ... or trade within your corp...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

You could get your Interplanetary Consolidation skill up to 4 or 5 then use multiple planets to build the P3 materials. In reality this may require using an alt as well is you want enough to build P4. But transporting anything lower than P2 mats will be a pain in the arse.

Thanks for the info!

Just to be clear, I have an alt to haul things around that is free from wardecs. But the actual system where the P.I. takes place is lowsec (0.4) and this is the alt on which the P.I. belongs so as you can see BNI have a few wardecs (its much less than from the beginning :P ).

Its mainly a production colony, I just buy the ingredients from Jita and the profits are inline with a good P.I. colony.

I will look into producing my own stuff, but I would have liked >5 PI planets producing P4 goods. Profitsssssssssssssssss!

Jita is not the be all and end all... there are other places you can sell/buy your stuff...

There is no such thing as a fair fight...

If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage.

If you're going to have planets in lowsec to extract stuff, with only one character, just make P2. If you have multiple chars, P2 or P3. There is far less profit to be made in P3 and P4, unless you do it in large scale. In which case you should be running factory-only planets right next to a major market hub.

If you try to make P4 with a bunch of little planets, each with just a little of one good produced, you will end up with more trouble and less profit than if you just made P2 on all of them. 5 planets' worth of P2 production takes a while to fill an industrial every few days for one trip to market, so there's not much reason to spend more time hauling a bunch of other mats out from Jita just to make a fancier product. The profit margin on P3/P4 is often low, and sometimes negative. If your planets are in lowsec, why make your life harder doing more hauling?

Well, I calculated the profits and it works out to be 20-30 Million ISK per day! But you are right about that hauling stuff, gonna look into P2 now.....
