Just curious if anyone lives in japan since this game I think is mainly US based.

It's mostly EU, the Americans are just the loudest.

Lol by thinking that the game is mainly US based.

The majority of the EVE players come from Russian / EU time zones.

But in general (sure there are exceptions) a lot of them have brains and don't shout as hard as the US guys.

Then again, there is still a good amount of Japanese / Australian timezone players.

Believe that ranking would be:

1. EU
2. Soviet Comrades (aka Russian block)
3. US
4. AUS.

Are we allowed to call them "Comrades" these days?

I'd be more concerned about this.

The biggest annoyance you will run into is the scheduled daily downtime, which I believe is from 11am to 11:30am GMT/UTC.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Daily_downtime

The exact player numbers online at different times of the day can be seen on the EVE-Online Status Monitor. The times shown should be GMT/UT.
http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility

The numbers never drop below half, but those quieter times should be about when it is evening in Japan. Most European players should be at work then, and most players from the Americas will be asleep. The Australians and some of the Russians will be online, though, and both countries have active and well-respected PVP corps.

Some players use those "quiet" hours for sneaking. Sneaking especially valuable freighter cargo through pirate systems, sneaking across null sec borders, making sneak attacks on enemy POS's. The Market will also be less active in most systems, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your trading strategy.

I have no idea how fast the internet connection is from Japan to the servers.

Hi,

I believe players from Japan have to go through Nexon to pay, or something like that ?

Of course, this could be outdated info.

What odd English dialect?

As a dual US/UK national I doubt that I have an English dialect of any sort. Big smile

One of the issues i can see you encoutering is finding a corp that operates in your timezone. Its not impossible ofc, since there are corps out there that operate more in your timezone and recruit nothing but payers from hose tmezones.
I would be very wary of all around the clock corps for tis if you are looking to get ito the operations to be honest. Im sure there are corps around that have such a large spread out playerbase that they will have enough people to run corp/alliance operations during your timezone, but make sure you hang around in their public channels and check killboards.

Good luck and welcome to EVE Smile

You seem to line up best with the Australian TZ, so therefore I recommend trying to find a corp of Aussies as their TZ is the closest, and there are some very active corps out there.

Aussie/Kiwi players are both in a good TZ (and you can share complaints of DT being unfair) and fun to play with.

Just remember that "mate" is a normal thing to call a friend and doesn't mean anything else ;)

Alliances are always looking for more AUTZ players, and Japan sits in that TZ.

Don't worry about downtime, it's rarely a big issue with DT durations down to <10 minutes sometimes, and it can have some benefits, e.g. allowing you to sneak into/out of nullsec before the camps go up. It's also a little reminder to check on RL every now and then.

Can we call them "bad players" instead of US players ... ? The Caldari State of America sucks enough as it is... Cry ... not to mention Amarr down south...

Well, when you enter US time zones the average IQ does tend to drop by about 30 points and a lot more shouting/posing/trolling happens, so I have to agree.

Pretty sure the UK beats germany, also pretty sure the UK don't consider themselves EU.
And Belgium sure as hell beats poland, spain, greece and monaco
