Well... what I say before too Lol

Nothing is lost though, as both those persons are highly intelligent and know their stuff. The former more on the business side the latter on group behavioral analysis. So they are still two cases to study with attention even if just to learn how to protect oneself better.

Yeah it can be a pain. I am very careful with my words, and decisions. When I invest publicly I almost always use alts. So there's no lemming effect or implied endorsement.

Actually on a roam we had the other day with Helicity Boson actually showing up *gasp* perhaps not the biggest celebrity but not totally unknown. He did mention the drawback to his fame, everyone and their uncle wanted to kill him so he never could sneak through a system. And during our roam a lot of hi heli! in local was seen.

We figured we should put him in a tanky damnation with a cyno and just have him roam for us in the future and we can sit and watch porn while orbiting a titan.

Could you please ask Helicity if he's up for an Hulkageddon?

I'd like to add Liang Nureng's name to the celeb list. She'd left (read: banned during the Jita riots), but is back. I took part in the Free Liang campaign :)

Not sure about her market impact factor. She could potentially manipulate the market by posting fits or promoting modules. Which would be totally out of character, as the main reason for her fame is reliable, trustworthy advice.

Also want to mention Estel Arador. Though not active now iirc. And not sure what sort of market impact he/his corp had/has.

Edit: Viaris also achieved brief fame when he attempted to donate 500b (iirc) to charity during the Japan PLEX for good drive. He was branded a scammer by the vast majority of MD and GD (nobody understood his plan, which imho could have been worded better). Viaris had been my ex-alliance leader, and I knew him to be a good guy, but there appeared to be a united front against him (some of whom later on turned out to be scammers). CCP eventually absolved him of wrong doing, and he got a special mention along with VV at the fanfest.

Any colour you like.

Also, Istvaan Shogaatsu.

Although really his name is nowhere near as famous as his corp, possibly because nobody can pronounce or spell it. But when mentioned among veterans, it's normally followed by a chorus of "I started playing EVE because of him". I certainly re-subbed and had my second go at EVE because of him and have never left since.

I was reading this thread aghast that his name didn't turn up for so long. I started playing EVE becuase of him and I actually just reread the PC gamer article on a whim earlier today.

Scans on it in here: http://eve.klaki.net/heist/

D'awwwww. That warms the cockles of my profoundly depressed heart. Thanks, fellas! To think, CCP hasn't bought me a house full of hookers in Iceland yet. :(

Now that we're here again:
Caleb Ayrania - not sure if he's famous or the reason for his fame, though he's been around for a while and his posts are innovative and thought provoking. Think he's got an impact on the market, though not sure what :)
Entity - Obsessive collector who has nearly all the items in Eve.
Ricdic - of Eve Bank fame, probably not active any more.

Any colour you like.

My understanding is that some, but not all, of his characters were banned for RMT and he does not log on with the remaining ones.

One of the others may be able to confirm/deny that, I wasn't as close with him as the EBANK chaps were.

Heard the same but that's just after his accs got taken down for RMT - clearing out ebank to pay for his mortgage was the story - so unsure i he started playing again later on ...

Speaking as someone who used to be famous (I think I can claim), but now is only really recognized by the "old boys club", I have to say I prefer my current situation.

For one, it's *a lot* less mails to have to deal with on a daily basis Big smile

Still, I adhere to the quote above (old habits die hard?) for some reason - Which is what prompted my to this post in the first place Cool

One of the downsides of being famous (and perhaps being in a position of power - ie. alliance leadership or similar) is that you can hardly post anything, without someone coming along and dissecting your posts word for word.
You almost need a lawyer to run through your posts each time, or risk having to explain/defend them 10 or 20 times over - Which becomes *very* tiresome.
Unconsciously I think that's why I've almost stopped posting on the forums at all.

When I was actively playing I considered begin famous not a good thing. I spent a lot of effort hiding behind the scenes pulling market strings in Domain. 6 years of anonymous noob corp trading for this character. It never needed any good will or standing with anyone and in fact helped a lot IMO by being anonymous.

It seems each era has its celebrities.. Its the long lasting that I find impressive, either for the fact that they are stubborn addicts or persistent personalities. Blink

Chribba is ofc high on this list of Ancient ones, as is Molle and Grendel. Btw Thanks for the memory lane thing with Moo.

We have lost more epic personalities in EVE than most can recollect.

I would like a little honorary mention of Ragnar from TTI, and Tzadkiel from NAGA.

Back before Industry was serious Business TTI was raining down fire to get CCP to improve these things.

Back when most special items could not be traded on scc market NAGA supplied a lot of EVE with a very good trade service.

I apologize if I sounded like some old fart in a retirement home sharing stories from "the war" Cool
