Orca Hold Issue: Item Movement/Stacking

I've been using Orcas for several months now, and have had a weird problem with item stacking. I think I finally have it figured out. I hope this is news to at least one person.

What would happen was most noticeable when the hold was very close to full. I would try to drop in some ore and get a message saying there wasn't enough space for all of it, but no option to drop only part of it.

It appears that this only happened when I was trying to drop the ore on top of a stack of the same type of ore. For instance, just happened to be trying to drop Dense Veldspar on top of Dense Veldspar.

I finally noticed that, if I drop the ore onto a different type of ore, or an empty space, I would get the window that asked if I wanted to do a partial drop that would fill all of the remaining space in the hanger/hold.

I think the reason that it took me so long to realize what was going on was that I don't change ore types very often, or keep the hold window open any farther than necessary, so, chances are that the hold popup would be full of stacks of ore of the same type, and it would be the same type I was dropping. Adding to this is the fact that most holds, when nearly full, won't let you re-stack the ore because there 'isn't enough space', so you end up with several stacks of the same type of ore.

It was aggravating not to be able to completely fill the hold, but not aggravating enough to make me think about it.

This happens with any form of container when it is almost full. It also happens if you try and split stacks in an almost full container. I presume that behind the scenes the server is doing some duplicating-and-deleting shenanigans, and subjects it to the usual cargo hold values.

Sounds like it. Definitely not worth complaining about, but it's been driving me crazy.

You can also hold shift while dragging ... seems to help. Tho maybe I am thinking of pos fuel hanger here lol. I also keep orca window size 1/2 size of stack wider than a full stack which keeps empty spot in window as the next stack wraps around.
