Proposal

Add anchor ship button bellow overheating buttons.

Function:
If your ship is moving it will come to full stop (same as pressing ctrl+space, not instant stop, it would slow down).
If you warp, orbit, approach, keep range it will turn off the button and your ship will move.
However, if you double click in space your ship remain still.
Bumping anchored ship would still act like it does without function, so basically all the button would do is disable move by double clicking in space.

Reason:
1) Sentry drones
2) Need to hold position for any other reason

Lots of times you can double click in space by mistake trying to rotate camera or select any object which moves you away from your position or sentry drones, and having button like this would be useful in certain situation and should be easy and fast to implement.
Idea came in incursion fleet when fleet member wandered 10 km from his drones and then had to burn back to pick em up. So would be nice to have a feature to disable accidental double click in space and going sightseeing.

EDIT:
Changed misleading title like Hakan MacTrew suggested

An anchor button is very good idea. Nothing more annoying than 'accidentally' double-clicking and noticing your ship moving away from the fleet. Something like an anchor button would definitely be very helpful. Idea

guessing you didn't actually read the idea?

it's a pretty good one, that double click navigation thing is infurating as hell, often i'll find my ship randomly flying off in an undesired direction when i haven't even double clicked, it's buggy as ****.

It's a fantastic stealth-nerf-miner-bumping thread.

Except it does not cause your ship to be completely immobile it more like shuts the engines down.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Came expecting to say no, left saying yes.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

again, you clearly didn't read the idea did you?

all it does is stop your ship dead, and disables the double click navigation, if you get bumped you still move.

please, reading before posting, it's not much to ask is it?

My apologies. Your right.
It is a good idea.

I do suggest though that the OP should pick a different title from anchoring, seeing as that implies immobility, just like the in game anchoring mechanic. It's misleading.
Dead-stop perhaps.

Or even just suggest a toggle button for manual flight.

Sounds like a practical idea, you should have intentional control of your ship.

Something that removes unintended actions improves play.
