Edit: to get on topic....

It has been 35 years or so since I had last dissected a worm to see what was in it's hole. But, I would imagine that a worm's hole is so small-and assuming they lived/thrived near the icy poles-that the end product would be miniscule. This would require an extreme over-abundance of worms to make any effort at mining worthwhile.. .. .. holes, that is.
