Yup. Even Civ 5 requires at least an initial logon, but it can be played offline after that.

Its a great game and fans of sim city 4 will love it. The only drawback is a lack of disastors.

So its more a building sim than say sim city with its godzilla attacks?

I can live with that. Next time its on steam sale ill snag it.

From Command and Conquer to Sim City.... EA Games loves blowing up amazing series in the customers' faces....

Command and Conquer 3 was an awesome game though. In my mind it is a worthy end to the series.

C&C....3... was the end of the Tiberium storyline? Since when? Lol

Or did you forget that god awful C&C4....?

To top that off C&C RA3 was worthless and EA destroyed the Red Alert section of C&C forever off that one too.

The last games worth playing for C&C were Generals and C&C3. Though the joke acting in C&C3 completely killed the storyline unlike in the previous titles

C&C4? I have no idea what you are talking about? Did they release a base building game?

I do recall a game that was so abysmally bad that had the same name. But this must have been in error.

To my recollection there have only been 3 quality command and conquer games in that series.

Red Alert 3 wasnt bad... it just took the pee a tad too much. But the Japanese were hilarious.

And you must be joking about the bad acting right? All the C&C games had crazy acting. Although Michael Beihn was good. But hiring porn stars... well what did you expect?

Well in better news I was able to play about 5 hours uninterrupted and I actually chose to stop playing haha. It seems the crashing issues etc have been resolved. The servers are still really loaded but I would say the water is safe now.

You hear them bitching.....

and moaning.....

BUT ill guarantee in 6 months everyone here will have played.

They arnt gonna let it go down in flames, just testing the waters - waters were far better than they thought.

I also hate always on games btw - however theyre fun when theyre on.

I think you're partly right. The people bitching are mainly the ones who bought it and will likely continue to buy them. They'll buy them just because they bought the previous ones. There is a reason why making sequels is a safe bet. The fans of previous ones will go through almost any abuse just to play the next installment and EA is very good at the sequel game.

The only part I'm disagreeing with is, that there is still a breaking point for everyone and alternative games of the same genre are always available, that don't require you to go through similar abuses. I passed that particular point with EA years ago and no longer buy anything from them. I still manage to find more good games to buy then I have time to play, so it wasn't much of a loss.

I can guarantee that i wont be buying it, mostly because i don't see the point, too many drawbacks for it, not enough appeal.
Id rather be stuck playing simcity 3000 then the new one. I liked 3000, yes there are some improvements, it looks nicer. But always online? strike one. Need origin? strike two, and if after a few years the servers go down? no game and strike three.

Pretty much same for me.

I wish origin didnt exist. For all the negatives steam at least doesnt stink of EA taint.

Same for ubisofts UPlay. Thats 10 times worse than origin.

An update to this story.

Apparently EA is going to let sim city 5 owners have a free game off their back catalogue.

I wonder what "wonderful" games will be available. I hope for command and conquer 4. Just to rub salt in the wound. Twisted

Aren't you able to disable the disasters completely in Sim City, cuz that's what I remember
