shortcut issue

I'm having the following issue with shortcuts and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and has a work around

Issue:

pressing F1, F2, F3 etc is mapped to turning on high-slot modules. No other short cuts are mapped to F1, F2 F3.... however upon pressing F2 while in a fleet is broadcasts " Enemy spotted".

If I delete the " Z" Shortcut that is mapped to "enemy spotted" then pressing F2 subsequently gets mapped to "Lock target"

etc etc. The only thing F2 DOESN"T seem able to do is to turn on my second high-slot even though that's what it is mapped to.

Also, resetting shortcuts to default doesn't change anything and it doesn't seem to matter if I'm in a fleet or not, F2 will not turn on that high-slot. It seems to be an issue with short cut mapping and not with anything to do with the fleet functionality.

Finally, I believe that this problem is not limited to F2. A quick check confirms that some of the other function keys are not mapping properly either but I haven't investigated it any further than confirming that they don't do what they should be doing.

system details:

Windows 8 Dutch version, English EVE client. Keyboard settings on Windows are set to English and US keyboard.

Anyone recognise this? Anyone have a work around?

Well...

I'm almost embarassed to post this but I've solved my problem so I 'll write it down in case anyone else finds themselves in the same position.

I'm using a microsoft wireless keyboard 3000, which has an "F-lock" key. Unfortunately it has no LED's or any indication if certain keys like Num-lock, F-lock, Caps-lock are on or off.

So somehow or other I managed to turn the "F-lock" to "off" which changes the functions of the function keys to perform operations like opening folders and navigating through emails.

That also means that it's giving different ascii codes to Windows, obviously, which caused the EVE-client to *appear* to be mapping function keys incorrectly. (so for example, with the F-lock off the F2 key gives windows the ascii code for CTL-Z instead of F2)

Turning the F-lock key back "on" sofves the problem.

*facepalm*
