IAFK Mining is also its own nerf, anyway. The more people who do it, the more low-end minerals are in the game, and the less valuable hisec minig is.

It also nerfs all the legitimate miners.

The what?

IMore generally, though, I don't think it's CCP's job to decide who's The Most Real EVE Player. If you think miners are a scourge, you should have the tools to deal with that yourself.

I suppose you don't approve of CCP hunting down bots either? Because an AFK miner is no more playing the game than a botter is.[/quote]

Sitting at your desk watching the laser pew the rocks isn't really "playing" either.
If you're good at this game, you're bad at this game. If you're terrible at this game, you're great at this game. ISK is nothing. Pew pew everything.

True, but it is better to have thought through the idea first and worked out the kinks before putting it forward to CCP if he wants to be taken seriously.

Botters break the EULA, feed credit card fraud and greatly increase credit card chargeback fees to MMOs via RMT, stress the game's servers, and are generally a pox on the game.

Someone who goes AFK while mining may not be actively engaged in playing the game, but then mining isn't designed to encourage or reward active engagement, either. People go AFK all the time during fleet warps and structure bashes for the same reason--or at any other time. FCs have everyone X up in fleet for a reason. In fact, I'm aware of people who mine semi-AFK because they're ATK on their characters who are engaged in PVP roams or fleet battles. Are they not in the game?

Go ahead and hate them and bump them and blow them up if that's your thing--they're the easiest targets in the game--but you're not going to convince very many people that a relaxing minigame is "bot aspirant" behavior when it doesn't share the motives or the EULA-breaking activities of botters, nor does it cost CCP and its customers time, trouble and money they way botters do. In a way it's the antithesis of botting, because it's sacrificing the advantages of superhuman, or even human, attention in favor of low stress and minimal attention (asteroids pop--if you only check your Mack every 20 minutes, your yield is going to be much lower than someone who keeps an eye on the rocks). It's a game design problem at best.

And, as long as the person accepts the risk of not paying full attention in a PVP sandbox game, it's their ship, their pod, their ISK and their decision.

What is your stance on AFK skill training?
