I've gotten a good amount off isk lying around and would like to start pvping some. I have good skills to be flying a pirate faction cruiser. Was wondering what would be the best choice for either solo work or small gangs? Thanks for your help!

I'm gonna skip the whole, "fit x amount of t1 frigs and lose them all" bit and get right to business.

Best bet would probably be the cynabal which there are many fits for. You can't go wrong with the standard nano shield buffer which rapes frigs and and cruisers that can't hit it. The other fit I'd recommend would be the 100mn AB fit which is much harder to fly properly but is more forgiving because you can pretty much disengage at will.

The vigilant isn't a bad choice either and might be more fun to fly with its web bonus. I haven't flown the vigilat at all so I don't only that much about the specific fit.

Those are gonna be your best choices IM but you can probably make the ila work too.

There are other Pirate cruisers? AC fit Cyna is nasty!

The problem with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and putting things in it.

I've actually seen the Gila used to stunning effect. It can fit a beast tank and get good damage with its drones.

But don't bother with the Phantasm. That one's so bad I almost couldn't remember the name. The Ashimmu's not as terrible, but still not worth flying over the other pirate faction cruisers in most cases.

Starting pvp with pirate ships is a good idea, but why cruisers? Battleships are much more powerful. Use your ISK to fit a Machariel or Vindicator and you get guaranteed results.

I was going cruiser for both the price and what my small gangs will be running at the moment.

Definitely Cynabal, although I'd advise fitting up a few throwaway Stabbers first. Not just because of the pricetag, but because Stabber/Vagabond/Cynabal have a particular flying style and getting used to it, and later proficient at it might take some practice and skill. It definitely isn't a 'sit there and go f1-f8' kind of ship, so don't give up if you lose a lot of Stabbers at first; it can be a very rewarding and fun ship class once you get the hang of it.

Cynabal as posted above would be my choice. It can kill anything that can catch it, and escape anything that can kill it (almost).

If you're up for faction cruisers action too then some of the navy faction ships are great (although some just plain suck) - the Stabber Fleet Issue and the Omen Navy Issue probably being the best of the bunch, although the Navy Vexor is great too and can do some crazy ****.

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

with a small cap booster and AWU 5 and a 1% pg implant you can fit neutrons. Also wtf is with those rigs.

Buying overpriced ships won't compensate for your lack of PvP skill or experience.

This. There's nothing a Cynabal or Vigilant can teach you that a Thorax or Stabber could not - at considerably less isk lost per death.

And as alluded to above, learn how to manually fly before ever setting foot on a cyna vig or even the Navy versions. If you just want to dispose of ISK then I would be happy to help with that at a very reasonable price. Kidding aside, with the cyna in particular you are going to see horrible results your first time out if you have not built up the foundation understanding around that style of combat small fast ships face. Without those fundamental lessons you will just become frustrated. It is much advisable to get THAT lesson learned with disposable T1 ships. And for a bonus, now that the T1 ships are all boosted while nav/rat types are not, you have a very good engagement window in a T1 variant.

Depends, the Cynabal is pretty much the Default faction solo roamer.

If your flying in nano gangs though I have found there are better options.

The nano Zealot is fantastic anti tackle when mated with Tier 3s (Taloses/Oracles), the nano Deimos is also a good anti tackle boat, nano Vigilant comes under that category too.

Beyond that theres the Vaga, which isnt that great these days, the Talos, which is fantastic and then more specialised stuff like the Huginn, Lachesis and Curse.

It really depends what kind of Nano gang you are flying in.
