i try to intentionally get good feedback, i get almost nothing but trolling and pirate whining (and ISD still hasn't shut it down, the icing on top)

I am not a pirate, a troll, or a whiner; Eve changes with every expansion, it must to keep things dynamic and to allow newer players options to interact with older ones without being constantly relegated to the noble role of "target"

You can't "start a troll thread" and then complain about the level of "trolling" That's kind of like going into lawless space and expecting Concord to protect you.

Attempting to dismiss posts that disagree with your as "pirate whining" and then asking for the thread to be locked is...well lets just say that it defeats the purpose of public discourse. A great many players who enjoy Eve and play well have come here to weigh in on this issue, many of them disagree with you.

Safety in Eve exists now, it is found not in highsec rather in the game mechanics; it is far easier and less expensive to evade combat than it is to initiate it. Eve does not need more mechanical safeties, it could use some more options for interaction; different and more well developed player occupations and sinks that can be replaced by the activity of those occupations would be great to see.

If you are having trouble finding good info on game mechanics there are options; there are many very knowledgeable and helpful people on help chat in game, some of them even have their own colored text, there is also Eve U or brave newbies, TESTs new- bro fleets are excellent, and there's plenty of null sec training corps in high that will help you to learn.

Much of the game is about "fear management" which is still just crazy to me, its a video game with no way to physically hurt anyone, and yet it has that feeling. That is Eve's greatest success and something which the developers can take great pride and satisfaction in. It is not something that should be dampened or limited to certain area's of the game space.

I personally would like to see a strong movement in the other direction with complexity and variation increasing throughout New Eden, and there is room for your ideas in that movement. Perhaps if your OP had not started by complaining about something that is easy to overcome in the game as it currently stands, and had presented this rather as part of a more wholistic shift that would lead to more interaction and ...I have to go to work. Go get blown up a few times, you'll start to figure it out, maybe a few dozen times.

He just wants the forums "gate guns" to protect him. For now.

Maybe later the forums CONCORD will step in.

As long as you are categorizing CONCORD and NPC corps as game mechanics, sure. Of course CONCORD only "protects" you in highsec.

For now.

But the carebears will "unsub". Or, you know, post about unsubbing in General Discussion. Same thing, really.

A holistic shift leading to more safety in BOTH highsec AND lowsec. Yes, I can see it now. The gate guns in highsec INSTANTLY killing you, making non-alpha ganks on gate in highsec impossible, and only nearly instantly killing you in lowsec.

Low-Sec is not broken, it's perfectly fine and in accordance with ghetto realities. If anything it needs to be more of what it already is.

Nobody would argue against fixing urban blight, in the real world, but this is a magical bit of game design that is made to be just exactly what it is. **Spaceblight** in it's purest form- backwater dirtsmokers drinking homemade hooch- p*rn*graphy and pr*stituti*n rampant in the ramshackle spacestations while all the newbies sit crapp'n in their pods at the very thought of it... it's the allure of a style of play that does not appeal to most players, but I love it and so do many others. To say it needs fixing to make it more like another part of space is discriminatory. It is a valid and enjoyable portion of the game- simple as that. What more is there to discuss?
