On the "doesn't need help" note, that's only true when it comes to actually getting onto the council. But, if you think I'm worth one of the two guaranteed spots to Iceland, put me somewhere on your ballot. Those two slots play by different rules, and so an appearance anywhere on a ballot is valuable. Blink

Well if "biscuit" is some sort of weird British term for "Cookie" that changes things. Ginger snaps are good, as are oatmeal raisin cookies and macademia nut cookies and frankly, quite a lot of other cookies.

So out of curiosity, how do we address you after the elections close in 20 hours?

Chairman Elect, CSM9?

Your worship fulness? maybe

Maybe something more humble, like First Citizen?

His Imperial Majesty?

Maybe Chairman of the CSM, Not for sale to CCP.

Lol

You can address me however you like, it's not going to make me take you any more seriously than I already don't.

Like seriousness is needed 99 times out of 100.

Just look at CSM7, if people were serious about the CSM they would have driven everyone insane.

As apparently the job of the CSM is to be always useful to CCP.Lol

Before the polls close

How do you feel about the new STV voting system?

Do you understand it?

How do you feel about fact we can only identify 2 members of CSM7 who supported it?

Do you want it removed for a better or simpler system, while voting numbers are so low?

-It's fine.

-I sure hope so since I wrote the definitive post explaining it.

-As far as I'm concerned only identifying two members who publicly state they've supported it just means those two members a) have opted to comment in public and b) have chosen (rightly so) not to speak for those who choose to ignore your lunatic ravings.

-Given that voting numbers have not been published it's awfully laughable that you're calling them "so low" right now, but no, the system is fine.

I have noticed that you call anyone who criticizes the CSM a "lunatic"

Do you really feel that would be a good stance for a chairman as it is their job to communicate with the playerbase, frequently?

There are valid criticisms to be had for this CSM. For example, I've said myself in the past that their level of communication was somewhat lacking.

However, people like you and Poetic Stanziel and so on mix those valid criticisms in with a bunch of what I find to be bat**** crazy garbage based on unsubstantiated rumors or flat out assumption that are often colored heavily by personal bias and occasionally even run completely in the face of verifiable fact, such as here. e: And exaggeration or twisting of words is also common. Apparently I call "anyone" who criticizes the CSM a lunatic. This is news to me!

So yes, I do think that calling something what it is is a good stance.

As you understand STV so well.

What are the disadvantages of using an STV system in an electorate with a turnout as historically low as EvEs?

A "factual" (a word I hesitate to use when it comes to political science, thus the quotes) answer to that is beyond me. My familiarity with the system stops at being able to explain the mechanics of the election itself.

Howeve, the system is meant to reflect the wishes of the voting populace, whether that's less than twenty percent of the entire population (as in Eve) or all of it as in real countries where voting is compulsory. In other words, my opinion, based on my familiarity with the mechanics of the system is that the turnout is fairly well irrelevant to how well the system actually works.
