Thats not true, I mean, if I were a real life millionaire.. and lost it all, I would probably feel that same way, knowing all the experiences i used to have with all that money and knowing I can't have them anymore. It would bother me more than the me I am now, thats never had much money, and doesn't know any different.. sure i know that if I were rich i could do a ton of awesome ****, but I don't have the experiences to miss.

Really, even though it never worked for anything, the funnest times with this game were scheming with friends how to make easy isk, I was always better at it when left to myself but the social interactions I had in EVE were better and more engaging than any other game i've played besides maybe guild wars, but thats a personal thing.. the guild wars community isn't by itself good (honestly i can't remember how it was) but the few people on that game I connected with, I am still friends with and still speak to

You suck at trolling

@topic:

Good read! I enjoyed your story!

But you only experienced half of your story. The other half you won't get when you quit.

Quitting is also telling everything about yourself and your character.

The question here is about you accepting your fate like a sheep or fighting it to become something more.

Your decision!

After a few years of playing 35 Bil is chump change for any trader. You should see it as a challenge, an opportunity to make it again faster than before - proving to yourself that you got better at the game.
As for someone giving a donation - well you've said that's part of how you ended up in the situation you're in isn't it ?

If you played long enough you'd see that the reverse is true in the end. The more you have - the harder it is to get that buzz of risking something anymore. Nothing matters to you then as the values involved are usually made back in a day or two.

Isk isn't the only way to have fun in the game (sure it helps but it's not all there is). Explore other options - EvE isn't just about excel sheets and numbers. Maybe just take a cheap ship and ruin someone else's day, you never know it might just turn out to be.... fun.

By the few words you wrote, i don't think you are the type to grind hard. Come up with something new and unique.
Have fun doing it and mostly aks yourself why you do it.

You had plenty of money and obviously you weren't searching for money. Because you didn't keep it, you funded things, you spended it, you throwed it at friends and ideas.

You funded ideas, but you didn't fund your own ideas, or?

And just maybe true power can't be bought. Yes money helps, but it doesn't equal power.

In my humble opinion you wanted more. You funded those projects because you wanted to change this universe. Give EvE your stamp on the map. You wanted power. Your own kingdom.

Now try to figure out how to achieve this goal, you are pretty creative. I'am sure you'll find a way.

And then tell me the other half of your story a few years later.

a) in a way yes and also no, I know alot more about having a large sum of money now than I did back then, I know no ones gonna gift a random dude a small fortune so its not much to think about, but to give a better analogy of my feelings at the time, and even now- I felt like I had struck oil, and that it was a well that was deep and full of never-ending isk, at that point, all other methods of earning ISK became fool's errands. After that well dried up (other people became aware), I had money, and no reason to add on little chunks at a time.. which was a terrible decision.

b) thats true, I haven't felt the buzz of risk for a long time, its been more like a veil of dread during a slow march towards certain death, no matter what I did, because the faucet was on and the handle was broken, it was having the value of an ISK distorted from early on, and I think thats why alot of people would just consider it quitting. But poor in EVE+ poor in real life= very few options

Blubberlutsch- you're a pretty smart guy, you're pretty much spot on, aside from the fact that I did fund my own ideas as well, they were not good ones, they were satisfying.. they gave me and my buds gut-busting laughs on teamspeak, but they were not financially sound ideas. But I did wanna change things, the butterfly effect trailer is what hooked me onto this game (good work with that CCP, damn effective marketing), and once I had the ISK, it really began to feel like that. A guy alone in a L4, shooting the same stupid A.I., lather rinse repeat, did not feel at all like I was making any impression on the game world. And now my eyes start to glaze over, I feel like this is not what was advertised, and by everyone elses token- not the way I wanna play internet spaceships, so I just take my ball and go home, and after doing that enough times, here I am with nothing left. My issue is not that PvE is boring, its just that it has no real effect on the game world, and that feels like i'm a part of nothing.. mine as well play mario, or some sports title where I win every game in some worthless career mode no ones ever gonna know or care about, that just feels like a vicious robbery of my time for some reason..

no mate, EVE is doing great, you're the second person to say that, where did I say EVE was dying? I think its a different type of game with multiple levels of DEEEEEEP badassitude, and I'm glad that a game like it exists, glad to be involved as well.

Interesting read. I wouldn't quit man.

So you're at zero right now, big deal. Been there before. The best thing to do? Make an alt and scam the hell out of people. EVE has many things in bulk and two of which are poeple who trust to easy and down right stupid people. Create a good scam that involves some layers to it and you can make a good chunk of change that way.

After you get a few billion under your belt then go back into the market.
