I think my time in EVE has finally come to an end, I knowingly made a last ditch effort to save my toons, and sadly, was denied the opportunity to "get back in the game" as I like to say.. To me, EVE is pointless without a few billion dollars, the reoccurring theme in GD is that you can play EVE any way that suits you, being rich suits me.. I've only been playing EVE since june 15th 2012, almost 9 months, and in that time I went from thinking a 500,000 isk donation to modify buy orders was extremely generous to wondering how I ever enjoyed the game without the 27 billion (plus assets) I managed to amass almost overnight.

It wasn't overnight of course, it seems it looking back but i had a good thing for a very short period of time. My main grift was, I would buy the all the region specific weapons rigs, then truck in 100's more from jita, and just gauge the hell out of people who were to lazy or too dumb to realize i was selling them rigs for, in some cases, 1600% profit. I'd list rigs at insane prices and buy them myself to even out the "regional average", make people think that was "just what they cost here".. It funded a hell of alot of fun for me and the few friends I did have (who've since stopped playing the game, and I believe one of them may be dead), I would pay people to kill others who had angered me (since a 4-5 month old toon wasn't gonna make that happen, except with isk), I started my own corp, it was a small corp but with enough ISK, it was headed down the path to success, before an awoxer (a real life friend, imagine that) ruined my plans (and investments) in null sec. I bought extra toons, expanded my possibilities, and had more fun in the game than I ever thought was possible as a newb.. EVE felt like a game where you truly could become a tycoon, with enough backing and if the right moves were made.. hell it IS that kind of game, I just didn't make those right moves, or I did but had bad luck, whatever the case.

Someone told me I had too much too fast, and was reckless, and that before long I would have nothing. They were right too.. Its like lottery winners that go broke, you always wonder hows it even possible.. I know how its possible, by not understanding the value of a buck, it has no value if it seems never-ending, its a really big number that you make a dent in here and there until you realize its all going way faster than its coming, and your plans for bringing in more aren't materializing quite the way they were supposed to.. then one day, its gone. The "friends" are gone. Any sort of power, real or imagined, is gone, along with the desire to grind what once (and still does to a degree) seemed like peanuts.

So I liquidated everything, sold everything I could get to and put all the remaining iskies on one toon, a little over 900 million isk. I decided to do what i've always done in situations of desperation, gamble. I bought one ticket on seperate somer blink drawings. By my last drawing, I felt that old familiar feeling of the hail mary being batted away in the end zone.. That weirdly satisfying loss that cements your fate like it has so many other times in my life, weirdly satisfying if only for its familiarity, and the realization that you no longer need to hold on to the dream, because it is most certainly over.

I like that, actually I love it.. the kill or die mentality of EVE, it really is awesome. I've played alot of games in my life and i'm positive that EVE has taught me more about myself than all the others combined, its funny how lame I thought it was at first, I'm glad I gave it a chance, and though all my hours of playing are now basically worthless, the lessons will always be remembered, I'm not sure what else I could ask for from a video game. If it seems like i'm giving "internet spaceships" too much credit, I assure you i'm not, I don't think I could.. This game has effected me in such a strange and unexplainable way, so much that even though i'm broke, shipless, and days from account expiration, I wouldn't change any of it. This is the journey, its my story, my part in the play. It was a small part, but to me, it was my escape while the chiefs were going 2-14.. while my girlfriend was at work, and while my arm was broken (preventing me from playing my guitar). I hope y'all enjoyed zack korth, zack korth enjoyed y'all.

lol no, liiiiike 35 billion? I'm not sure what all I had, I gave so much away, funded many things, awesome things. If thats still lol worthy, if 35 bill is chump change, i'd gladly accept a donation Cool

edit- said 27 up there because i remember the highest my wallet ever was, was 27 bill liquid isk, but considering how much i was spending.. acquiring items at the time, plus the wallet.. hmm maybe 35, its really just a guess.

Fair enough dude. Your EVE your decisions. Still think you should rethink quitting and see if you can work your way up again. I dare you. ;) Let's say in 6 months you post the whole story about it. Now that would be a great read!

If you still insist on stopping with eve gl in your RL endeavours and if i may I would advice you to never take up gambling of any sort IRL. lol

You realize you sound just like some little rich brat? Maybe that was your intention. Either way two ideas come to mind. Firstly the saying "a fool and his money are soon parted", and secondly that this is a wonderful opportunity to learn the value of money, and how hard it is to actually earn it as opposed to some windfall, some fluke. It's a hard lesson but one that would ensure you never blow 27 billion so quickly again in the future. But it seems the lesson is too hard for you. You just want the easy way. Well, there's the door. Have fun in World of Warcraft.

The problem has really become, it's so hard to enjoy the game without money.. I realize no one will feel sorry for me for this and I don't expect that, but I can't bring myself to do anything but search for the quick buck, that most of the "wind down", or, the parting of the money from the fool has been spent searching for that quick buck and not spent enjoying myself.

Also, I won a few dollars at a casino a while back, those dollars saved valentines day for me one year.. that one glory has alot to do with my willingness to gamble when I need something. I am not rich, in life. and I enjoy gambling, the way i see it is- most of the dollars you've gotten in your life, you've spent.. but how many of those dollars have afforded you the opportunity to get more money? In reality, if I had a bunch of extra cash, I would probably just buy plexes and keep playing.. it is not really an option, and because of that, the story can be what it is, and I can be happy with it.

A nice story there, thanks for sharing it. I came in expecting a whine post and was pleasantly surprised with actually enjoying a good story. This just shows what sets Eve apart from other MMO's, I don't think this kind of experience would be possible in any other game.

Also, embrace for the incoming trolls telling you how you sucked and how you should have done better and l2p etc etc etc. Just forgive them though, they have no other life and only exist to troll on these forums.
