Battleship sized ORE mining ship with sentry gun support

I propose battleship size ORE mining ship.

1. Ship would have 175m3 drone bay for defense.
2. Ship would give boost to drone control range and sentry gun optimal range. Drone control range would go over 100 km and same with optimal range.
3. Ship would support Micro Jump Drive so it could drop sentry guns and then warp 100 km forward and then start mining.
4. Size of ship would be 400 000 m3 so it can use Orca maintenance bay.

I want to hear comments of this suggestion. I was reading CSM suggestions and found Mobile Mining Gun and I though I invent my version of it using existing EVE tool called Sentry Gun.

Great post, love the link to the mobile mining gun, I like the idea of a battleship sized ore vessel but I think it may be a bit OP as described by you.

But miners having decided to build something tough enough to cope with all that New Eden can throw at it seems sensible given all of the ganks and wardecs going around and represents evolution.

there's no need for such a ship.

Why not, please elaborate.

So, the solution to miners dying in low/null is to create a new ship that's even more vulnerable than a barge/exhumer?

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

The solution to this doesn't lie in a bigger ship. Gankers can pop any ship they like currently because there is a limit to the EHP you can buff to resist an alpha strike based on the fittings on the ship, and you can not engage the gankers ahead of time. The best you might manage is by using an OGB and a skiff they miscalculate how many they need the first time they gank you, but even that will go away when OGBing gets removed.

The solution lies in the creation of an evenly scaling anti alpha mechanic that can then be carried by miners if they are worried, and they can play the 'buff each other directly' game, meaning as the mining fleet gets bigger, they can buff a single ship more & more, to match the increase the gankers bring.
Basically some form of EHP projector. Which needs to have no stacking penalty since additional DPS ships don't have stacking penalty.

Additionally changing the Barges to have a utility high slot or two would have a massive impact as well, allowing inclusion of things like cloaks or remote reps (Or the new Remote EHP projectors that are badly needed to fill a mechanics hole). This can easily be done since CCP has the means to limit the number of a module that can be placed on a ship, so they can cap the Strip Miners at the current number while allowing for more variety with other high slots.

Also consider fitting an ECM Burst on a Barge. It's going to be low strength, but most of those destroyers are ganking you well inside the range of one, so fire it just at the right time after they attack you, and they loose lock, by the time they relock, they are dead. It does cost tank, which given how limited the slots are is at a premium on anything but a Procurer/Skiff.
