My EVE

Eve is absolutely awesome but i think CCP is really missing a trick by not having a cinematic mode.

A cinematic mode would mean the cameras pan around the ship, like in a movie. Slowly moving round allowing users to feast on Eves awesome graphics properly. Currently, the graphics are very good but when you move the mouse the camera pans very quickly and quite jerkily. Cinematic mode would automatically move the cameras steadily and gracefully, allowing players to properly take in the constellations, ships, moons, spacestations, capsuleers quarters and every other aspect of EVE.

I would suggest initially that CCP look at scenes from classic space movies like Alien, Star Trek, Independence Day etc and look at the camera angles the directors of those movies chose to introduce the ships, and simply copy those. You could have 4 or 5 different sequences and EVE would simply scroll through them when the Cinematic mode button was pressed.

I am thinking this should be a button on the main user interface.

I also think that compared to all the other programming required for EVE, the programming of this mode should be pretty easy.

Be really interested to hear what others think. I appreciate there are times you may not want to be in this mode - combat for example (though maybe even then! ) but most of the time i think it would make the game look a different magnitude of awesome.

If anyone saw the youtube eve tesselation video you will see what i mean. When showing off EVEs new graphics, CCP did not use a mouse and scroll around the ship, they slowly panned over it. Eve could be this impressive all the time. I'm not sure i know what Jessica is but the main advantage of Cinematic mode would be to have very slow, super smooth, automatic panning of the cameras when the mode was activated. I really think CCP is missing a trick in that they spent all that time creating amazing graphics but every user's experience of them is via quite jerky mouse movements. So no one ever really gets to see the fully beauty of them.

Has anyone got any ideas how to make formal upgrade suggestions to CCP?

"Ctrl+F9" is a great feature but is not what I am proposing here.

What I am proposing would make playing Eve feel like you were playing a movie. With most actual gameplay looking as if you were watching a Holywood blockbuster sci fi movie.

Come on CCP - Movie (Cinematic) Mode for EVE!
