Hi,

I posted in skills as it is skill related.

Not sure if this has been overlooked in the rush to get rid of the passive element of the tactical shiled manipulation skill but will the Elite passive shield tanking skill be modified to reflect the change?

This certificate still requires tactical shield manipulation to level 5 which is now no longer usefull for passive shield tanking.

I only ask as I am going through the certs and dont want to train TSM lvl 5 just to get this passive skill to Elite.

Tactical Shield Manipulation Prevents Shield damage bleeding into armor. At level 5, NO damage will bleed into armor.

Did they change this in the last patch? If they didn't, it is still be useful to ALL Shield tanks....

The main thing they changed this last patch was that active hardeners no longer provide a resistance bonus when the module is offline, meaning the Shield Damage Compensation Skills should no longer be required in the Active Shield Tanking Certificate Tree.

Finally, the certificates don't really mean anything.... don't waste time training TSM V for a petty certificate... that's just dumb!

Ahh yea, I forget what the skill actually does and focused on the passive shield part of the skill that once was.

And no doubt I will still skill TSM to lvl 5 before my yearly remap to make the engineering block maxed out as its the only one on lvl 4 left, crazy I know but it make the enginnering block look complete.

this has been talked about before and sometimes that bleed through is desired to armour to help the shields. basically the math breaks down to simply sometimes you want the shields to let damage slide to catch a quick second wind. If you need a viable reason to fight the ocd there is one lol.

If you have TSM 4 for tech 2 shield hardeners then you're way past the point that bleed through is going to help you. I'm pretty sure that you have a higher chance of winning the lottery then be saved by increased shield regen via bleed through, and once the shields are down it doesn't matter anyway.

That being said TSM 5 is 2.5 weeks of training that has no applicable benefit. It really should be addressed.

This, this right here. TSM 5 is almost entirely useless. In almost all situations the shields will end up falling to zero before you die anyways, so it won't increase your surviveability, Getting that 5th point is going to delay every other skill you train in the future by 2 1/2 weeks, for nothing more than a pretty grey square. If you want a pretty gray square, go buy some gray paper, take a pair of scissors, and make yourself some. Then skip this skillpoint and train something more useful.

(In case anyone is wondering, the only edge case I've found where TSM 5 would be meaningful is if the person is flying a capital ship, and is in an engagement where they receive a large amount of remote shield repping with their shields between 0 snd 5%. So each hit gets absorbed mostly by higher shield resists, then hits armor. then reps land... and repeat. It'd require that a long time was spent with a lot of reps landing, while shield waffled between 0 and 5%. So maybe after training pretty much every other skill relevant to flying that Chimera, get TSM 5 at the end.)
