Has been shut down since October 31st of 2012. I'm curious to know when it may be back up again, I'm finding myself wanting to get a set of those Eve Ship models. Guessing demand wasn't high enough to sustain the business? Are the tshirts still available from somewhere else at least?

Thanks in advance.

It wasn't lack of demand that killed the EVE Store, it was the ******* horrendous postage costs they liked to charge.

Surely they could have partnered with Amazon for distribution? How high was the postage, I never got around to ordering stuff till I got a nice income (relatively).

I would buy a model of the Megathron -do they do one? But not if it is going to cost a silly amount of money and take several months for delivery.

The store cannot be worse than it was, so it can only get better.

I hope.

No. But then that's why the store is closed, probably. Niche game, small subscription base, smaller interest in game centric products and production costs are high which means they probably lose money on the store in the first place.

Which means, you'd probably be better off knitting yourself a Megathron.

Yeah, Nah, think you are wrong there.

Tooling costs are the biggest barrier to plastic production, and the tooling has been paid for, it's a sunk cost. the cost of producing additional models would be nothing considering what was being charged per unit.

The shirts and other items (mugs etc) are in the same boat, normally accessing the IP is the hardest part of the process, as the IP owners having a shirt printed is a very low cost endeavor. even at a single unit basis, just ask Cafe press.

Not having a physical store (and that staff are probably shared between eve jobs and store staff) are also two excellent ways of reducing overheads, making the costs of the store pretty much hosting and bandwidth, i.e very low.

Now if you want to get into the opportunity cost aspect of sharing staff amongst the LOB then that is something that needs to be taken into account. But I think that you will find that the playerbase is more than sufficient to support a store that sells physical goods.

If you have a playerbase that is willing to spend RL money for in game currency, there is a good chance that they will spend on material goods, this is probably why there are at least 4 threads that have been started and responded to asking when the store will reopen.

I don't care how long it takes if it means there's more (and updated) ship models for sale. I know for sure I'd buy a Megathron and Scorpion. If they added more, delicious models, I'd have no choice but to throw money at them.

Save the drones!

You know what would be cool? Digital distribution 3D-printing schematics for sale; imagine being able to buy the schematics for a legion, fire up your 3D-printer, and print yourself a cov-ops legion. Doubt it will happen soon, but it WILL happen eventually. Right now, 3D-printers are quite expensive, but there are lots of really smart people out there trying to make a more cost-effective version for public consumption. Would be cool if CCP embraced it, granted the target demographic is quite small, but still, it would be a first.

Just a thought.

EDIT: Also would totally remove the outrageous shipping cost...

Frogblast the Vent Core! When the W'rkncacnter came, Pthia was killed, and Yrro in anger, flung the W'rkncacnter into the sun. The sun burned them, but they swam on its surface.
