EVE Online has been the quintessential niche MMO for a decade now, and DUST 514 marks an unlikely attempt to bring the brand to a larger audience by setting it in the most popular genre of all: the shooter. The basic concept sounds great. While free-to-play warriors are spraying bullets at each other via the PC and the PS3, subscription-paying EVE players will be spaceside in their ships, targeting objectives on the planet's surface.

Putting this idea into practice, however, might be a challenge. These are two vastly different player bases known for general jerkery, and the arguments that arise when a strike inevitably goes wrong may be the stuff of legend. Of course, player drama is what EVE has always thrived upon.

soo it looks like with the ps4 client soo too will we get a pc client...

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Unfortunately, most video game publications aren't exactly known for being accurate, although the reasons vary sometimes. In this case someone probably jumped to conclusions.

I'll let OP in on a little secret. The person writing the article may not even know what EVE is. They may have actually Googled "EVE Online" just to find out what it was. They probably don't have a PS3, and they've very likely never played DUST 514. They simply claimed the article assignment that their editor left dangling on the back-end of the blog, and got paid their 15 bucks to write it.

It's pretty easy to write up a short bit of nothing about something you know nothing about, and very small mistakes can be taken to mean much bigger things by people who don't know that the article means nothing to the writer.

Reading article further, revelations about WoD:
Quote:

The Twilight craze may have given vampires something of a bad name in recent years, but that doesn't mean we're not still excited about World of Darkness. For one, it's another project from the maverick team behind EVE Online, and for another, it allegedly offers an unparalleled degree of freedom and the ability to mark a player for permadeath once they become a "Prince of a City."

Still, the project is full of risks. Permadeath failed to garner much attention in Wizardry Online, and the modern urban settings of The Secret World failed to nab the audiences of its fantasy counterparts. World of Darkness's launching with both concepts, so the rest of the game will have to perform well in other areas to succeed. Maybe all those Twilight fans will come in handy, after all.

Nowadays you don't need to be smart to be "game journalist". This dude can't even write two small paragraphs about WoD without mentioning Twilight twice.

The comment seems to have received a fix. There is no mentioning of DUST514 on PC.

Say, what are the chances of you having placed the false information in there in the first place?

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

CCP has already 'hinted' that DUST will eventually be released on the PC, so I don't see why this is news at all. Even though the above article is braindead.

At some point along the way Dust will end up on PC to argue that it won't is a bit short sighted.

the issue upto now has been two things

1) I understand there is an agreement with Sony that gives them exclusivity for a period.
2) It's developed for the PS3 so would require an amount of reworking to make run on PC.

Now with the announcement of PS4 and it's x86 architecture, it seems CCP will have already been working on porting Dust to that platform. From this point it is a far simpler step to port from this situation.

this leaves the time that they are expected to remain exclusive to Sony... Once that time has elapsed expect CCP to announce it at least coming to PC if not XBOX as well. my guess would be at next years Fanfest.

Whilst it's likely just lack of journalistic investigation on their behalf, I'm locking this as rumor mongering is against the rules.
