Also the ship spinning feature is a dead end, while the CQ in it's current form is a prototype, something that could have been great if CCP completed the features, including the multiplayer parts. Now the parts that should be here long ago are delayed even more. The art department and the programmers could not complete the necessary multiplayer aspects of incarna because they were needed to bring the ship spinning back.

Other aspects like new turret graphics and nebulas are certainly also getting hurt by a shift of priorities.

I'm sorry, but u clearly fail at EVE.

If you have a really good computer, presumably you use it to run intense programs... perhaps even progams you use for work or other things.

Rendering 3d objects (quicky and repeatedly , draggin and twisting them in illustrator isn't some thing that only super gurus do).. vido edititting perhaps?

EVE is a game you can play while doing other things. EVE, being something close to real time strategy for many approaches means monitoring game activities off and on while you are doing something else at your computer.... for many people at least.

EVE, has a healthy IRC component and keeping the client open and tracking chat while doing other things can be fun, and allow you to jump into a fleet or arrange one if you see people you know who happen to be on but are casual enought that they don't plan things in advance or use third party notification programs etc.

I can dream up others but that should be enough.

If your computer runs fine with CQ loaded while docked in station you just aren't pushing your computer hard enough running other applications while you are docked.

Depends on how hot your hands are. My uncle could turn those ships and make whole computer catch on fire.

Just spin moderatley at beginning to test things out. If get too caught up in it, make sure to blow on screen to help cool things down.

-It gave the player at-a-glance info about what ship they were flying without having to open the ship hanger to see which one is highlighted

and im not gonna reference the double-click to open cargo cause Alt+C works fine regardless =P

A +1 to you good sir.

You hit the nail on the head. With WiS it was step by step, 3 CQ before the winter patch, which was to include establisments and the MP part of WiS. In other words baby steps towards a totally awesome Space simulator. Ship bridges/compartments and walking in POSes was also talked about during fanfest Q&A but now because of neckbeard & co of the CSM we are now getting a patch dressed up as an expansion.

ITT :

All future eve development is to take into account that people play eve whilst doing other things and for "many" is nothing more than a glorified irc client.

It must also be held back by "many" people with older hardware that would be incapable of playing other newer games. If I can't run three clients simultaneously on my five year old "gaming" office computer I will be irate.

UI and font must also be designed to cater for people playing on anything from tablet pc's to loungeroom htpc's using a TV.

EvE, the game for non-gamers.

Aside from the nostalgia factor, the old-style hangar is less graphically-intensive, which means fewer calls between the GPU, the processor and the cluster. You may be able to run it without an issue, but I had to upgrade my graphics card to run CQ without stuttering at high settings, and even before Incarna, full settings were pretty much out-of-the-question if I wanted a playable game.

While we're on the topic: what IS your system spec? I'd love to see 'It didn't fry mine' fall prey to 'Because I bought a four-hundred dollar liquid-cooled card'. Smile

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

In fact ship swapping is faster than ever, because the "scotty" 20 seconds delay is gone, now you can change ur ship almost instantly.

I dont care about ship spinning, in fact I think that the new hangar looks awesome, with ship looking bigger and more "epic".

The only thing I would change is the camera view by default. Instead of looking at that walkway, I'd rather have a view of my current ship by default. And only if I want to use CQ, then I will rotate my camera and/or move my toon and walk around.

I agree, maybe if there was a little control to spin the ship in that hanger view I would be excited. For all the people who have been stuck with the door though, I can see why this is a big thing. I'm looking forward to the new CQ's, I've found myself walking around a lot and really need a change of scenery.
