News of the 'Duh': Anheuser-Busch sued for 'watering down' beer

Yes. Really!
There were some folks as didn't know that drinking Anheuser-Busch products was like sex in a canoe: Eff'in' close to water. But these last few have wised-up, and are preparing to make their displeasure felt: Drinkers sue Anheuser-Busch.
BC wrote:
The lawsuits, filed in Pennsylvania, California and other states, claim consumers have been cheated out of the alcohol content stated on beer labels.

"Our information comes from former employees at Anheuser-Busch, who have informed us that, as a matter of corporate practice, all of their products mentioned [in the lawsuit] are watered down," lead lawyer Josh Boxer said.

OK, I joke on American pilsner beers. Which are really just German Pilsners, rendered for teh masses. They do have their place - Like after a long, hard, sweaty day working outdoors - A nice pilsner is good then. Of course, if you're drinking A-B products, you've been done short. Blink

But how often do I do that? Not very. So screw those pilsners, and give me a good IPA, instead.

Anyway, the fact that the mass-producers of horse-pee beers are being sued for producing... Well, horse-pee beers is... Entertaining. Twisted

Cobra beer is a bloody good beer if you ask me. Its one of the few things I miss from the UK. That and decent bacon and sausages.

Still, this story doesnt surprise me. I wonder but the penalty would be for doing this in Germany... I believe the old punishment used to be a whipping or something if subpar ingredients were used.

Ha ha! Those Germans had their priorities straight. A nice horse-whipping would do A-B good. If you buy a can of Bud for a buck, you're probably paying $.50 to the retailer, $.30 for the advertising, $.15 for the shipping, and $.05 for the actual ingredients.

An interesting thing is one of their major breweries is in Houston, Texas. I think it's safe to assume they use large quantities of local Houston water. Houston's home to a lot of refineries and the related pollution, and people their haven't drunk the water since the 1970s.

What with the MicroBrew Revolution now being over 20 years on, it's hard to believe people still buy the crap.

Gimme a Guiness (no, not a micro brew, but still......).

This even though I pretty much lived on Budweiser and hot wings a decade ago when I was bar tending. I cleaned up for a couple of years but now I enjoy a beer or 2 (read bottle, not pitcher) on certain occasions like our upcoming St Patty's day, but it's either with homebrew or microbrew. In fact most restaurants, in my area at least, now generally have a separate menu for beer that usually give you 120+ choices.

Seriously. Even here in backwater backwards North Tampa I just saw 3 sixers of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale.

EDIT: Made me pine for 'home' (San Fran).

When last I was stationed in San Dog - lo! those many years a-gone! - there was a bar on the other side of Point Loma that had a 'beer passport.' Their claim to fame was that they had at least two beers from every time zone in the world, and a total library of beers in excess of 200. Drink a beer, get your passport punched. I forget what you got for filling in the entire passport - besides bragging rights.

Today, you can find 200 craft and micro-brew beers in California alone. I know - Not a patch on Belgium or Germany, but one hell of an improvement on how things were lo! those many years a-gone!

(We've got DogfishHead and Iron Hill, locally. Plus hundreds of private (home) brewers, locally. We good.)

My old hangout. http://www.toronado.com/

The owner started the Micro Brew thing in 1981.

At least 50 drafts, and around 700 bottled in storage.

Didn't spend much time in that neighborhood. Blink
Usually drank Anchor Steam when I was in San Fran. And seeing as I was staioned over at Mare Island, that was often enough. Lol

Mostly drank at the Horse & Cow (now reduced to only two locations Sad ). Lots and lots of pretty crappy San Miguel and Nuclear Waste shots. Didn't wise up about good beer until my sister graduated from Vet school. We partied at CooperSmith's and my world changed.

Mine was nestled in a mini lot and was accompanied by a strip club, XXX shop, a shop that sold lingerie and swords, a pawn shop, and a hooka shop.

Take a wild guess what kind of crowd we had.

Lower Haight is the cool part now that Upper Haight (aka Haight-Ashbury) is a gentrified Disneyland.
