I love this tool. Absolutely the best from what i've seen. For my need of exploring and figuring out "where the hell did i go to and how do i come back", i am yet to see anything better.

I use the "silent IGB mapping" all the time, with a second OOG browser on the second monitor.

I do have a few suggestions:

  • I can find everything i need on your site... except for the Statics lookup. I constantly have to go to some other site to look up where the newly probed WH leads to.
  • Same thing with the WH Effects.

  • When marking the type of WH connection, would it be possible to just display a droplist (or better a radio-button list) of all possible statics for this system. There is a finite number of possibilities, so shouldn't take too much space. Leave ability to still enter one manually in case CCP changes something.
  • On the Signatures page, please add ability to edit "Unstable Wormhole" and add column for a static (again, a dropdown of possible statics for the system would be great, with a manual override). A "Leads to" column (mapping the J number of real system name) would also be great.
  • If i have Signatures page populated with one/some wormholes, then when modifying the WH connection info, have an option to "Use available signatures", so it would only display the statics that i've found and identified on the Signatures page. By default, it will be off, and display all possible statics for the system (for those that don't bother filling in the Signatures page)
  • Add a "notes" column" to the Signature page, that won't be overwritten on the next bulk import (right now, i am renaming the "Unstable Wormhole" with the Static that it leads to, but after next bulk import, it gets overwritten)

  • Give an option to not delete "downward" systems when deleting one system. I don't live in a WH, i stay for several days, and keep moving inward. I have a need to delete the systems behind me that have collapsed (the root system, the next after that, etc), but currently if i do that, the whole map gets deleted. "Collapsing" the system leaves it on map which clutters it.

  • Display a warning on expired connections. I understand the need to keep old connections, even to just "see" where you've traveled. But after 24 hours, most connections would be expired, so please add a warning or some other visual clue that the route is probably dead. You have the timestamp when they were created, even their lifetime expectancy (if filled).

Lastly, i want to humbly ask for a private instance
Keep up the great work! Can't wait for more updates

Thanks for your feedback! Once I actually get 0.3 completed (only 7 months overdue now), 0.4 will focus on fixing gripes like this and refactoring / improving the existing codebase. For a private testing instance, please send me an eve mail with the subdomain you want.

Let me address some of your specific requests real quick, but also please submit them at https://jira.evewspace.com so I don't forget:

  • Static / Effect search: I assume you mean a box in the navigation bar to type in a static or effect and just get where it goes. I aggree this definitely needs to go in for 0.4.

  • Wormhole Types with SIgnatures and Systems: I'll have to play around with this to make the UI work, but it sounds like a good idea.

  • Notes Field on Signatures: I don't want to add any more width to the signature list if possible, but the existing Info field shouldn't clear like that on import. I'll take a look and fix that.

  • Warning on Aged Connections: Aggreed. I'll try to add a visual indicator for over 24hr old and EOL longer than 4 hours.

  • Deleting Down-Chain Systems: This one will require a lot of work either to change how the map is modeled internally or to hack arond how it is modeled. I can't guarantee it will be in 0.4, but it will have to be done eventually I suspect.

With the help of a Linux buddy I got this working! It's gold! Thanks so much for the awesome free app and all that time that you put into it. I'll comment back later once I've used it a bit with comments/suggestions. Thanks again!

We've let Marbin out of his cage for a while so can run loose in the wilds. It is Marbin mating season which only happens once every 2 years so we felt bad he missed the last.

He'll be back soon....... we hope

An actual 0.3 release is still a ways off as I'm bogged down in UI work for the Recruitment part. If you are keeping up to date with the develop branch, you actually get features as soon as they're tested (mostly). My main concern for 0.3 is the possibility of doing all of the work for API-based access control only to have CREST SSO come out of nowhere and make me re-do it.

Having a problem when running with the supervisor I do not get any CSS files or any of the static files loading..

eg:
http://X.XXX.X.XX:8000/static/bootstrap/js/bootstrap.js 404 (NOT FOUND)

On all of the files.

STATIC_ROOT = "/home/maptool/static/"

When running the application with gunicorn using supervisor, you need another web server like Nginx or Apache to serve the static files. See the install guides at http://eve-w-space.readthedocs.org/en/develop/ for possible configurations.

If you are running the 'runserver' built-in server, you need to add the --insecure switch to make it serve static files.

For those with private testing instances hosted by me:

I will be migrating the server that hosts the private testing instances from Xen to VMware ESXi. This will require me to rebuild all of the environments on another server during the transition. If your private testing instance has zero traffic this week, it will not be built in the transition environment to save capacity. It will be built on the new server, but will be down for several days in the meantime.

If you have a server guy familiar with the mapper code, it is easy to use the Dev site to get the latest and greatest features, as well as write custom code to suit your needs. Big smile

Yes, if you have to ask yourself the question, just assume we are watching you...

I have a private server with the mapper running for another wh corp but I haven't managed to get it show people in system (as well *You are here*) or the popup to show up when you jump in another system.

I have the python server and celery worker started with nohup and an Apache proxy.
I havent got the supervisor configured to work so gave up at that time. Might try again another time.

I got the 0.2.2 code from github. Server is CentOS 6.4

PS: I'm not involved in the TLC mapper which works fine, apparently.

How long ago did you clone the code, or did you use the packaged 0.2.2 tarball? If so, that code is almost a year behind. There just hasn't been another official release to replace it.

Again, amazing application, we've been using it for over a month now and it's really been helpful. I uploaded the rubicon database files - will I have to upload each future patch database to stay current? I'm a Microsoft man by trade so the linux world made my head hurt lol.

Until I get a chance to write a proper static data importer, you'll need to just overwrite the current tables with the new ones. To do that, assuming you're using MySQL / MariaDB, just dump the data dump in again just like you did on the install.
