Does anyone really play Eve with just 1 character and no alts.

In Eve, the recent norm appears to have at least 2 alts on your main account and at least 1 additional account filled with alts for various tasks (Mining, PVP, Industry, etc.).

Just wondering if anyone plays Eve on just their main with 1 account and no additional alt support?

Yes people do. They stay in highsec and become bears for their eve career before giving all teir isk away to corpies and then leaving.

Honestly that really depends how "far" you are into the game.

I played without any alts for a good 2-3 years, but ended up being in need of various cyno and scout alts. Also alts are mainly used for actions you dont want your main to do, such as piloting supers and titans.

Now for industry and mining i dont really know much, but i people mainly use mutiple mining alts either because they can or because they want to make mining profitable with 5+ Hulks :)

I know a few, all but one flies out of high sec and the one that does only ever goes on frig roams because he can't scout gates.

I have 3 accounts, to live how I do in EVE I'd have to have 2. The 3rd is a luxury that makes my life in eve easier.

I used to have 1 hauler alt and 3 miner alts but then I did the math and if I wanted isk it was more efficient to just take those 4 plexes that i paid for every month and sell them on the market. The ISK from that was many times more than the alts earned.

Now I just play with this character.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I've been playing for 2.5 years without an alt. I only got one last week because of a need for a cyno alt. Was perfectly fine up until then (and arguably don't need the alt, either)

For the record I've done RvB, Lowsec yarr and Wormholes without the alt (and still don't have the alt in the wormhole) so yes, it's possible.

I had alts but got rid of them because the temptation to skill them up was quite strong and it's just ruining my main's development.

if I got a second account I'd be tempted to skill an orca pilot as the dockable mobile base thing has potential for awesome.

I actually did this until last week when I got my first alt account.
It's nice to be able to do everything with one toon, but as soon as it comes to hauling stuff during wartime a second character in a npc corp is invaluable.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I have one account, 3 toons; This guy is my main, a second for PI and light hauling, and the third gets deleted and remade when I feel like making a character.

I have always felt that boxing takes a lot of interaction out of the game and that the split attention required to do it is a limitation that I don't want to deal with. There's nothing an alt can do that a Friend can't do better and I think that it is possible to explore all of the content in New Eden without an alt.

That's just my opinion and I certainly don't think its "the" way to play. Boxing is a great challenge for a lot of people and often brings new life to games that would otherwise become stale.

1 character - 1 account. Been playing on and off for 7 years like this, as a casual player i have never really needed an alt. I have had to cross train to do everything that i wanted to try out but i am happy with my character Big smile

Early in my EVE "career" I had two accounts. After Incarna I unsubscribed one account as a protest to the NEX shop.

Using one account was refreshing and more enjoyable to me.

But, then this whole New Order of Highsec thing popped up and I subscribed to a new account just for that. Why? Because my main account already had all three character slots filled with characters.

As such, I am now back to having two accounts.

I used to. I honestly didn't need the extra accounts, but Nulli got so butthurt over cloaked rifters in their ratting systems I couldn't help myself.

This is my one and only character. I live in deep 0.0 and have been playing for many years (40mill skill points ish).

The only time i will get an alt is when i start needing cyno's ... even then only if i really have to.
