An Orca quandary

Want to start training a fresh Orca pilot. However, I am reluctant to spend for a toon that needs currently to train 40-plus days when I can wait for the summer expansion and train in 17.....

Now, if I actually KNEW when the expansion is coming out....April, May, June??

No one "KNEW "
As i did for my carrier pilot, just train it if you need it now, remenber you will ending to be a better mining barge pilot anyway, if you like ti mine some times, just dont wait

Well, do you need an Orca pilot or not. Is as simple as that.

The world needs you to stop being boring!

Will it be worth it for you if the patch comes early may? Then go for it, chances are slim you will be disappointed. (Slim =/= zero, though)

Train for freighter instead. More efficient for general high sec mining applications. Hire a booster or something if your really that hard up

All moot as don't mine.

then why not spend the 30 odd days and train a ship designed for hauling? which is what i assume you'll be using it for since you don't mine...

that's less time than the current orca, and does the job better.

Ship hangar = switching ships out in space
Fitting service = Change your fit out in space
Fleet hangar = carry stuff for your buds (can't do with a freighter, and an industrial has less capacity)
3 warfare links
It can also carry a decent amount of light drones, to abandon for ships that lost a drone
It can also fit remote repair in its highs if desired (can be useful for when a shield tanked incursion boat has some armor damage)
They can be cloaked and put out of harms way when not in use, etc.

Tell me how a freighter fills any of those roles?

Orcas are also easier to train for, faster, and can be tanked better than freighters.

Many incursion communities bring an Orca with them for when they are operating in a system with no station.

The Orca is far more than simply a mining or a hauling ship. It is the closest thing to a high sec carrier, sans fighters, that you can get
