What have your losses taught you?

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose, seriously. Omen (really new)

Second loss - Seriously, don't do it. Omen (still new)

Don't attack neut ships like sentinel with armor rep ships, rifter. (drunk)

Make sure your D-scan is setup correctly. I somehow removed ships and probes from mine. Cue Drake landing on me while I'm tanking cosmic anom. I was D-scannin like a boss, but I couldn't see ships so I wasn't aware he was coming for me. Loss - Myrmidon. (stupid)

Don't try to warp off from a gatecamp in a cruiser or larger. Rather turn around and burn back to gate with your prop mods overheated + defence mods overheated. (Arbitrator) First one died, months later took correct action and lived.(3% structure)

Make sure your guns can actually track with their delicious damage (Incursus)

Fairly recent ones for me.

My last death : Goons may have a reputation for being stupid and fail, but that doesn't actually mean they all are. Using the same tactic twice in a row was probably a bit too overconfident.

Oh boy, where to start... Lol

I learn something from just about every loss, but having recently passed the 200 losses mark, I obviously can't post them all here. Let's see...

Loss #1: Rifter, lowsec

Other players WILL kill you in lowsec. It is not just like highsec with slightly added risk.

Loss #2: Rifter, highsec

Canflippers generally only flip the cans of people they can kill. Additionally, a Brutix can kill a failfit rifter.

Loss #8: Bellicose, nullsec

There are warp disruption bubbles in nullsec.

Loss #27: Stabber, nullsec

This is the first loss where I wasn't flying a complete and utter failfit. Yes, it took me 27 losses to stop fitting dual shield boosters, wcs, plates, and reppers to all my ships. Sadly, not even an un-failfit can save me from russians in 0.0.

Loss #31: Hurricane, nullsec

You can't dock after aggressing someone. Aggression includes firing back after somebody else shoots you. In my ratting ship, no less. Oops

Loss #37: Rifter, nullsec

Abaddons can instapop rifters.

Loss #44: Rupture, nullsec

PVPing with your PVE fit is a bad idea. Not even three badly fit PVE cruisers can kill a well-fit PVP Harby. Sad

Loss #55: Hurricane, nullsec

Cloaky ships (Pilgrims) will not appear on d-scan. They will kill you when you are ratting.

Loss #58: Incursus, nullsec

Session change timers are a pain in the ass.

Loss #61: Rifter, nullsec

In a frigate, never sit still while waiting for your FC's orders, especially when a 'Cane is locking you up.

Loss #64: Hurricane, highsec

Nanocanes suck with t1 guns and nuclear ammo. Seriously.

Loss #67: Hurricane, highsec

If you rep someone and they concordokken themselves, you get killed as well.

Loss #68: Rifter, lowsec

Taranises are usually hulltanked. That said, it is not impossible to kill a t2 frig with a t1, since it was down to around 30% hull. Big smile

Loss #70: Wolf, lowsec

Not even wolves are able to avoid being slain by frig-killing ruptures. Also, putting deadspace fittings on your Wolf is unnecessary.

Loss #77: Dominix, nullsec

A vagabond can break the tank of a ratting Dominix. FML.

Loss #86: Vexor, nullsec

Small gang fights between t1 frigs and t1 cruisers still happen in null! \o/

Loss #96: Hurricane, nullsec

Aaaah, so that's what a hotdrop is.... At least we killed the cyno hurricane first.

Loss #97: Hurricane, nullsec

Sending a squad of BC's into a squad of sniper BS is fun if you don't mind losing isk.

Loss #99: Blackbird, nullsec

A curse does not need to be unjammed for its drones to shoot you...

Loss #101: Hurricane, nullsec

People bait in Guardians, apparently. Oops

Loss #103: Hurricane, nullsec

My first nanocane... Dramiels will bump you off station. :/

Loss #107: SFI, nullsec

Vaga-SFI's are overshadowed by actual Vagabonds. Also, Russian inty pilots don't suck.

Loss #110: Dominix, nullsec

You should d-scan the station before warping to it after a hunt. :bubbles:

Loss #112: Hurricane, Amarr

Proteuses can warp scram you out to 20km.

Loss #114: Hurricane, Umokka

Not all carebear corps who you wardec are total failcorps.

Loss #117: Hurricane, nullsec

BAHAHAHA! Bait Hurricanes are pure awesome! :D :D :D

Loss #123: Hurricane, nullsec

Cynabals are good ships.

Loss #130: Jaguar, lowsec

Vagabonds are good at killing frigates.

Loss #133: Dominix, Amarr

Not even your drone BS is safe from a swarm of frigs with scimi support.

Loss #145: Tempest, nullsec

It's a bad idea to tell even your friend that you're shipping a BS across 40j of nullsec, especially when that friend is in the coalition that killed you.

Loss #165: Daredevil, nullsec

An exequror with dual webs and small lazors CAN hurt your 100mil faction frigate.

Loss #169: Arbitrator, Taru

That "mission nightmare" you tried mission-baiting was actually PVP fit. That said, PVP fit Nightmares can give Arbis a close fight. (I got him into armor! :D)

Loss #174: Vaga, nullsec

Rapier + Falcon is a bad, bad combo for my Vaga...

Loss #178: Curse, lowsec

ECM drones are unfair. Cry

Loss #193: Curse, lowsec

Even if you kill a Slicer in the process, your Curse is not immune to a blob of frigates with scimi support.

Loss #198: Wolf, lowsec

REMEMBER TO TURN ON YOUR GODDAMNED AFTERBURNER.

Yeah, and that's the most recent loss that I learned from. Still learning. Big smile

Don't do a level 4 mission in an ishkur when there are webbing frigates. Lesson learned.

What my losses taught me is I do not get "The Rush", a good feeling from adrenaline inducing experience. In fact I get the reverse rush, that burst of adrenaline leaves me feeling worn out and depressed. Hence I avoid such situations in my play. Later I learned that my reaction is genetically based, I am genetically incapable of ever experiencing "The Rush".

This also taught me why many players hug high sec and avoid PvP. They are like me. They get nothing good from PvP combat, and no rules changes to the game will change that.

Overview is as buggy as hell when someone warps 50+ rifters onto your grid

You never have the right ship for the fight if you're roaming and stay sat on a gate waiting for the scout to find something next door, after being scouted.

Those AFK cloakers never uncloak when you rat in an attempt to bait them to their deaths (They stay AFK), but the one time you undock in a hauler and warp to another station with them in local, warp to zero drops you off 6km from docking range :-/

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

the goons actually consistently outplay their enemies. the "we suck at eve" was started by them, precisely so people underestimate them. also, you apparently never heard the second part - "but everyone else is even worse!"

Don't miss an oportunity!!!

this is not exactly a loss, but I missed a great business when Planetary Interaction came out. Some items which used to cost 500isk now are sold consistently for 15x times that price.

I could have spent 3b and turned it to 45b within some weeks. But I just invested 500m in that, making 6b. Yes still a good business, but Me idiot!!

YOU again??

Communism in the Goons?? Man are you brainwashed my little proletarian serf.
YOU sir are a slave on one of the largest zero RMT Plantations in EVE... and you don't seem to know it.
One thing the Goons really are good at is brainwashing their weak minded minions.
You are proof of it.

I said it in another thread I'm sure you remember, that if you had an ounce of self respect, you wouldn't be part of the banana pickers of EVE. You would bite the hand of your Massahs instead.

But the Massah reimburses me for about 85% of the value of all my PVP losses and sometimes lets me have seconds from the table when he and the misses are done eating. Then the insurance man sends me a cheque in the mail, and sometimes I've made more than I've lost. Depending on which corporation and squad you're in, you might even get more reimbursement. I know that amokDOT (kick amokDOT) reimburses their logistics pilots 300% hull cost when one is lost in a PVP encounter, on top of the alliance-level reimbursement of 157 million.

e: You won't win this one. I am one of the people who handles reimbursement. I know the value of things. Cool

You have no ******* clue what you are talking about.

Goonswarm, and TEST, will pay you for losing ships. The equivalent of the ISK you lost after factoring in insurance, paid to your wallet. Sometimes more. Yes, there are ships you are given ISK for losing because they are so useful in fleets. We call it space communism, and it is freaking awesome. You only have to buy combat ships once, then you're good forever.

Indeed, everyone in a major 0.0 alliance is an RMT mastermind or slave, and those massive ship reimbursement programs are nothing but a sham to cover up the RMT!

We could be giving everyone 150% reimbursement for PVP losses if not for the fact that we recently financed The Mittani's house (in cash), and a beautiful puppy (in fur). :dealwizit:
