My losses have in the main taught me that drinking a couple of bottles of wine does not, in fact, make me a competent PvPer, no matter how much it feels like it.

On the other hand they've also taught me that after a couple of bottles, I don't care that much if I lose a ship.

That PvE is doesn't prepare you in the slightest for PvP. PvE arguably has a detrimental effect on a person's ability to PvP. Gives them a false sense of accomplishment, makes them over confident and lazy.

my first like 10 - 20 kills: Never undock during an active war when wartargets are right on the undock waiting for you (yes I was a noob and didn't knew we were at war).

on any kill: Don't care about the loss of your ship, it's just a game. Just care how to get revenge (revenge is a dish best served cold, and space is a very very cold place to float in your pod)

when you have ganked a lone roamer in null, don't give him the pod express to high-sec to give him a new ship to come after you. Better to scramble him so he has to slow-boat all the way to the gate from the battlefield, in the mean while call in friends to do this in any system he has to go through. He will get pissed very very quickly

Learned both within seconds of each other on my first day in EvE:

1. If it looks to good to be true then it's a trap (curse you "unattended" cargo container in belt).

2. Don't fly anything you aren't prepared to lose in fire.

What have mine taught me?

Oh lets see....

PvP is fun, I should probably drink less on long roams and local smack is boring Smile

Solo losses taught me how not to fly/fit some ships, fleet losses are different (for me anyway).

IMO this is a compelling reason for a total rework of NPC rats.

someone obviously killed someone and jumped to highsec and got poped instantly

lesson learned?
if you near a lowsec/highsec gate its worth a peek to see if someone was dumb enough to jump back to highsec die anddrop loots..

Got a much better one , fully faction fit tengu , when roaming low-sec for fights make waypoints first OR don't be foolish enough to not check the security system you enter.Sure it was fun killing that mac in the icefield and i wondered wtf he was doing in low-sec mining away ... the concord surprise was even more mindboggling though Blink

Surely took me a few minutes before i realised:''Did i just engage in high-sec in my 1.5 to 2 B tengu? Twisted

Good thing about liking pvp and having the isk for it yet forever being an utter noob at it , i laughed my ass of at the mistakes i made during my anuall pvp months. My friends offcourse laugh even louder when i show them my losses. It's callled 'pulling a flakeys' as they usually comment .

Heck yeah, it's the first game since EQ for me that provides any sort of heart pounding thrill, or that keeps me awake for that matter, and doesn't involve me sleepwalking through it.

I don't know that my loses taught me anything, probably why I have so many. My old CEO did teach me that I lose so many ships because I'm a figgit. My wife was very upset to find this, and left me for said CEO.

All I can say is FUKU Mitch, have a nice day!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

What my losses have taught me is that its just losses and are unimportant in the scheme of things. What IS important is that you are having fun, that even losing and your watching ships explode can be fun if you are playing right.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

Death #1
Ship: Bhaalgorn
Learned: When flying a Anti-Cap Bhaalgorn in a POS Defense fleet, you should make sure that other parts of your fleet have proper intel and have a proper armor fleet.

Death #2
Ship: Pilgrim
Learned: Vagabonds with 220 Vulcans can still hit a Pilgrim pretty well. Fight was DAMN close, though.

Death #3
Ship: Hurricane
Learned: Loki are pretty soft on tank. I should have stayed close rather than align out.

Death #4
Ship: Ashimmu
Learned: Just because it can neut out a Vagabond and keep a Vagabond from moving doesn't mean it can solo a Vagabond.

How may I drug you with drugs?

Prime lesson from living and dying in 0.0 space.

IF you see someone (like a scout) from a big alliance in 0.0 (Goons/Red/TEST/Raiden./Noir), they are not alone, nor in a small gang. DO NOT ENGAGE AND GET TACKLED. They WILL (without exception) blob the living crap out of you and will say gf in local as if it really was a gf.

Would stay if they sent like 5-10 people (we roam in small gangs)... but when local spikes to +50 Shocked when ever you see these people makes me wonder why they say gf (good f**k maybe?) in local after the ****. Just for one kill and it is just a rupture. (Or worse, a rifter)

Small gang PVP is best PVP. This is a fact. Maybe if that 50+ man gang split up into 5 different gangs, they would have more fun and people would actually fight them. Then it would be a good fight.
