Better "satnav"

Currently, the overview displays the next system on your autopilot route by highlighting it yellow. This is good.

Very often, I, along with 99.99999% of pilots out there, find myself using the autopilot as a "satnav" to use this yellow highlight as a navigational tool to tell me the way to my destination. This is also good.

After I reach my destination, I end up resetting my autopilot back to my home system for the return route. This is inconvenient.

Wouldn't it be great if your overview always highlighted the next system on your route back home in some different colour to save you having to constantly reset your autopilot?

So I presume the total lack of flames means everyone agrees with me?

I agree. Next jump gate should be given a different color such as green (green means go) and yellow for the rest.

edit: Might help to post your idea here. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=33928

How does EVE know you want to return home after reaching a desitination? 99% of destos are set during ops and it's usually not the final desto. So it would be incredibly annoying having to do cancel a waypoint "home" (how would EVE know where your "home" is) and then reset a new waypoint. Honestly if right click > set destination is THAT hard for you quit.

it wouldn't have any effect whatsoever on your current AP settings. Just a secondary route back to some system you had set as "home" that was always displayed for convenience, separately from your normal AP route, since when your op is over, you always want to go back to where you live.

It could be implemented a couple of ways. Maybe you set a system as your home, and that doesn't change until you change it. Similar to the "home base" feature that can already be set by your corporation (I'm assuming you're a forum alt, and not actually some NPC corp mission runner, so you actually know this). Alternatively it could just be dynamically set as whatever system you were in when you set you're current destination, which would just mean your AP worked in two directions, though I think the first method is more useful.
