These reboots aren't being made for the generation that was, it is being made to expand its profits on a new customer. They'll throw you a bone or 2 but overall this is not for you, its for expanded revenue on a long time product.

Plus they are terrified due to their own greed of losing even one dime on an untested project.

If he wants to remake TMNT, that's fine. But to change the origin story......one may as well make up something new around that entirely instead of announcing that you are releasing a sham of a production...while even being called out in the geek-o-verse about its badness.

That's some gumption to still march forward at that point, I'll give him that much.

EDIT: changed to 'gumption' from an apparent Hispanic pejorative.

Because the geek-o-verse can be counted upon to 1) *****, but go see the movie anyway, and 2) fail to organize effectively.

Hollywood has demonstrated those two points repeatedly, so at this point fanboi-dom gets even less respect in Hollywood then is does on the interwebs.

Having had to live through Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (Way to go UK) I can live with this.

I understand my childhood was not sacred.

Therefore in the spirit of the Oscars I would like to give a speech.

And thank my parents for introducing me to Enid Blyton books which shall never be made into movies ever and so can be unsullied. Also for Terry Pratchett who refused to sell out to Hollywood and all the quality UK TV by Aardman, Morph, Rhubarb and Custard and Fireman Sam. Oh and Paddington Bear.

Face it, until the late 20s early 30s group takes over in about 20 years, we wont be able to change it and will have to be creative when it comes to movies. I mean have you seen the crap kids TV is now???? It's bloody awful!

But they sure are eager to bombard us at Comic Con for our attention!

Yeah. Homogenization and gentrification are killing our true culture tbh.

Even San Francisco does not have a half of the personality, creativity, diversity, or charm that it had even 10 years ago. It's becoming just like 'everywhere else'.

I attribute the root cause to the degradation of our educational system over the past 30 years, but that's an entirely different thread.

I blame the fact that corporations are running the government caldari style. Because of this they can get away with pretty much anything, including all the stuff they do to crush the far superior competition. You know, like how the MPAA and RIAA basically use the government to force people to continue to accept their obsolete business model. In this case they're gradually losing, but it's still a good example of what I'm talking about. Read the cracked article linked earlier in the thread. It's another good example. Since Hollywood owns the ratings board they can just arbitrarily get rid of any independent movie they see as a threat.

And this catering to massive corporations causes the homogenization and gentrification.

I can't draw a decent stick figure.

So blockbusters suck because they must return the investment, which is huge because this way the producers earn gazillions.

Lucky for us, here in Spain we treat commercial films the way they deserve and give plenty of prizes to arty films that imitate international arty films (FAI: silent onirical black and white films the year after the silent onirical black and white film "The Artist" hits fortune. Twisted

I don't believe that is the case being made here. We are complaining for the most part of the endless remakes and reboots and outright copying of ideas.

James Cameron's blockbusters certainly do not suck.
