It also excels as an armor brawler in logi gangs, cruiser sig with battleship tank and dps. And no, cheaper ships don't have +200K EHP with extended point range, so it's pretty much the king of heavy tackle.

But yeah, it's awesome in cloaky pew, solo or small gang, prevalent in w-space. Here's a related Ironic km http://shivafurnace.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=16328268, note the victim's corp name.

Link fail.

I will attempt to answer the OP's question with a little satire to make the point a bit more clear for the uninitiated. With the hopes that the ISD's won't edit it.

A tengu is like those african street fighters you see pictures of holding their ak's over their heads and firing from really funny stances. They like to keep as much distance between themselves and the things they are shooting at as possible and will run quite fast if that distance is compromised. Death by them usually comes from a long way off and chasing them often ends in frustration or bleeding out. Something not entirely unlike this image.

A proteus however is like those sorts of people that sneak up behind women and men in the parking garage. And, once on top of their intended targets, proceed to do terrible terrible things to them while they flail and scream and struggle rather pointlessly against their assailants. Once these assailants start their deed they are largely committed to finishing it. Running away is generally not what they do as they are rather slow and fat. I am quite sure you all are capable of generating the mental imagery for that one on your own.

The irony, no words only laughter.

"The homogenization of EVE began when Gallente and Caldari started sharing a weapon system."---Vermaak Doe-- "Ohh squabbles ohh I love my dust trolls like watching an episode of Maury with less " Is he my Dad " but more of " My Neighbor took a dump on my lawn " good episode! pops more corn" ---Evernub--

I would also say they are both very SP intensive to fly properly.

One of my characters is just coming up to 19mil SP, I have trained him from scratch specifically focused only towards a Proteus, and personally I don't think he's ready to pvp in a Proteus for quite a while yet, but as always YMMV.

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

I will simply refer any new player to the adage-- don't fly what you can't afford to lose.

A T3 is damned expensive. You should have a reason to be in one, because it's a shining beacon for every ganker that sees it on D-Scan. If it's for PvE, it'll take a heck of a lot of low level missions to access the high level ones, that will still take a lot of to pay for a T3.....you can risk it in high payout low sec missions (or wormholes), or never pay it off in high sec PvE.

If it's for PvP, then by the time you can afford/fly one, you'll be answering questions on the forums, not asking them.
