You want to be in a fleet? Good. You'll be sitting around hitting your warp scramble button the entire battle, watching everyone else hit their warp scramble button. Noone will be firing any weaponry, because that is not needed in a fleet. According to this thread.

Man, I know how to win Eve now. Just gather together 2,000 actual fighters and blow through all these glass cannon logistics corps. That'll be fun!. Wait ... fun ... ****, ill go find another game.

EVE-UNI has a good article on what Cyno's are, how they are used, some caveats etc: ejoy the read.

About training: I train what I want to train, and I'll make sure later to get in fleets where I can be effective. Does that mean I'm always 100% effective? No, but that doesn't really matter. What matters is that I can tag along on many different ops, have some fun, which in turn motivates me to train more skills for a particular type of fleet or activity. Let it come naturally, there's no need to rush training. I enjoy seizing the initiative and thus find myself often in the position of FC. I solved the problem not by asking "what should I bring" but by providing an answer of my own.

It's not who you are, it's who you know. Why does anyone need to admit this? I thought it was kind of common knowledge. Most of the crap I have achieved in this game I achieved together with other people. When presented with the choice of (1) kiss the right butts, (2) make your own or (3) join Reddit/SA... I ask of you, is that choice really that hard? I picked (2) at some point, asked myself if it's really what I wanted after a while. I tried (1) for a while and found out it wasn't. So I returned to (2), and while the scale of engagements I can nowadays attend are way smaller, it's simply the most fun to swim up against the stream.
