hahahhaha costumes. why does that trigger this question:

am I the only one whose exes have invariably put them in a dress and then ...?

make up and everything. first time it happened I was 15

invariably: "can I dress you up as a girl?"

Nope, mine too. I have long hair so it's probably my fault. I refuse to shave the beard for it though.

Show me on the doll where the bad juror touched you...

BTW: Y'all would make pretty good Nuc's. At least socially - this thread and its digressions pretty closely resemble a Nuc-type bull-session.

actually in the US, its easy to avoid getting picked for jury duty. Most lawyers want a thinking man, but what they don't want is a local yokel, or a racist.

if you don't wanna get picked just answer questions really poorly, blame the Jews, or suggest something like you come down on the police/law enforcement's side, so court is a sham anyways.

They won't pick you. I am not sure the selection process in britain, but if jury's get picked it could have been sabotaged from the getgo. The religion question sounds really suspect, as though maybe that person wasn't so dumb, as more obfuscating.

People **** around with jury duty alot more than you would expect. Nothing is sacred, at any hour, someplace in the USA.

how much money would you take to get bugger'd on the fifty yard line, at half time during the super bowl. BUT! all the audience can see is your face, the rest of your body is hidden behind a curtain, and... it's Elton John Sir Elton John

anyway, I just got booty called and now I have two hickeys and guilt for maybe over acting. (I dunno, it was the Oscars i think)

ah, and now I have netflix because she wanted to watch a movie.

8 bucks a month for all these shows and movies???

nukes would mean there's a high likelihood there are no women around, and everyone is close and free to share their stream of consciousness without worrying about harassment charges... and it's healthy, drug and alcohol free males between the ages of 22 and 40?

pretty much narrows down the type of conversations that will be had Big smile

//also: with your experience, do you work at a power plant, and why not?

Good observation. OTOH, well, women are back on the menu, what with recent changes. Blink
But those few legacy female nucs I knew from 'back when, well... The conversations weren't any different. They're just as dorky as the guys. Sometimes, almost impossible to tell apart, to be honest.

I *could* work in a power plant, but it's too much of a PITA, so I work in another incredibly tightly-regulated field: Pharma drug discovery. Think about that - When pharmacological research and dealing with international regulatory law is easier, well that tells you all you need to know about working life as a nuc in a power plant. Shocked

Truly, having actually *done* time on multiple juries, I wonder what the fuss is about? Is it inconvenient? Yeah, some. So what - So's a visit to the doctor, or a sick kid. Jury duty comes in between those two in my book of annoyances. Just not worth the issue and hassle of trying to duck it - Better to just do it, get it done, and get your 'get out of jury duty for two years' card.

Edit:
I've been called five times in 25 years, and been empanneled four times. Total jury duty time is less than three weeks, total, over 25 years. Small potatoes, really.

After sitting through the jury selection process in a USA courtroom, I watched the lawyers pick those that had not said thing and responded to none of the questions I had answered to the best of my ability. The selection was no where near me as I was very high in the jury pool, but a reporter that had been sitting in the row behind me tapped me on the shoulder afterwards and said "You were to smart for this jury anyway".

Saddest moment of my life.

Sig blah blah blah blah
