Prior to the last big patch, I could comfortably run 10 clients on my machine. Since the patch, I can barely run half that number. Why? Something in your patch has turned your client into a complete resource hog.

Memory usage, per client, has gone up between 40 and 100MB. So where pre-patch usage was between 590 to 640 MB, now it's 660 to 720mb per client. CPU usage has gone through the roof, essentially doubled. At 5 clients, CPU usage is at 99 to 100% constantly. I have a Core 2 Intel Quad 2.2 GHZ CPU, and with 10 clients, I never broke 90% CPU usage. I play with the camera zoomed out to the max, so it's not like there is a lot of problem with rendering a lot of close in detail work. In station, CPU usage drops to 70%, but out in space, it's pinned and stays that way with only 5 clients.

People have lock up and white out issues because of the CPU usage being maxxed out. I was having the same effects and problems, because my CPU was pinned at 100% as well. There just was no more CPU time to process the amount of information needed for multiple clients, and on older machines, even a single client can completely use up all the resources. Nothign has changed on my machine since your patch, this problem is 100% with the way you patched Eve. this isn't a new thing. the exact same problem occurred when you patched in that useless P.O.S. virus you call the unified inventory.

I have friends that all have the same problem whther they're running Vista 64 like me, or Vista 32 bit, or Win 7. Right now, 2 qaccounts are unsubbed because the subscriptions have run out and I have no reason to sub them when I can't use them. I have three others I play with who also let anywhere from 1 to 3 accounts drop for the same reason. I have 2 more accounts coming up that will be unsubbed too. I'm not paying for something you've screwed up. This latest "patch" is already costing you money. If more people do this, maybe you'll actually pay attention to how and what you code, but then, this is just a repeat of fall last year.

At the same time, fix drag and drop, because that doesn't work at all for multiple items. Docking and jumping also doesn't work any more oftne than half the time, if I'm lucky, but that is also a problem that has existed since the useless inventory patch.

Take your time fixing it though. Lots of games to play that actually work ;)

See I am not the only one.

Been on the test server all day. While I cannot exactly replicate the situations when I lock up, there has been no other issues other than the one listed above by my new friend.

Sorry starting to get bitter.

In other words. I can't exactly go mining in an ice belt on the test server with 50 other ships 300 drones in the belt with me. Hence not being able to replicate the conditions. I am able to run 3 clients on the test server but I can do that on TQ when NOT in the ice belt and space is otherwise empty. the CPU load on TQ is small (20-30%) till I enter the belt then BOOM 100% CPU.

I really didn't want to spend my weekend on the test server but I am, bored to death, checking to see if it crashes. I really have no choice. All I can do on TQ is mine unless I want to risk losing ISK to a crash that wont be refunded.

Frustration mounts,

But it seems that CCP are deploying a patch next week. if thats so then its fixed.

Yes, I'm aware of that. But if for you that is an acceptable timeline, for me it simply isn't. I'm also a developer. I also work on a client / server application and if the client is this ****** up, we're not "waiting a week" nor are we deploying it on a test server first when the client in production is basically "randomly" freezing!

It's simply stupid to have the fix ready and deployed to the test servers just ... waiting ... for next week ... while all your customers are actually playing with the client that's broken ... while you test the fixed one ... but didn't test the broken one ... :|

Seriously ******* pissed right now as this has been broken for a week or so and it seems there's only a couple of guys working on it ... and don't even have the power to do a TQ client release.

Hopefully it will get fixed ASAP. I've already lost millions of ISK from missing payouts due to this bug.

Hi guys, i've been following the other post here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=postmessage&t=207928&f=272&q=2688099

Glad to see i'm not the only one furious here. i've lost billions because of this and early on when the white screening began i knew it wasn't me because i tried my gameplay on a COMPLETELY differen't computer AND witnessed these same problems occuring with people i didn't even know.

CCP Vertex wrote:
This issue should be fixed on the Singularity test server now and we hope to deploy the fix next week, please read the following thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2687622#post2687622

After a very lengthy petition with a gm, the conversation lead to him scratching his head and nonchalantly suggesting i reformat my computer to a later date (how about i drive a steak knife through my motherboard? i'm sure that MIGHT help it). Like i said in that other thread, if i go to my friends house, different internet, different computer better computer actually, and it still does this after reinstalling, updating driviers, repair tooling, clearing cache and drinking kool aid, the white screen kept popping up every god damn 20minutes to 1 hour. sometimes i'd get white screened up while i'm in incursions (which i've stopped doing because i have zero fatih in CCP client at the moment where i could loose multi billion isk ship in incurisions). i can't fathom driving in my car and suddenly i'm not allowed to drive it any more and i crash into the guy in front of me losing how much are titans worth nowadays? about the cost of your car? hmm???? if i were a titan pilot i'd sure as heck not take it out and suddenly putting a blast shield in front of my face like this bug is doing

I am glad to see there's an even bigger thread on this so i can feel a little better when i gain arthritis 10 times faster relogging character after character into even again desperately trying to catch up for the isk lost via time

Please for the love of god fix this, i've played way too much eve every day to know something is very wrong

This is simply a **** show. That's all it is. You deploy a broken client and take two weeks to solve the problem? After you have a patch, you take your good ol' time and ask us to test it out in the test server! SERIOUSLY? :|

Isn't it ******* bad enough you need your ******* customers to testing for you and when you actually get a fix, instead of deploying it to the live server, you want to test it out. What in the **** are you people afraid of? Making it worse? If that's the case, just get people who actually know wtf they are doing.

If you're not afraid to make it worse then it makes no ******* sense to deploy any fix to a test server when the live one is ******* broken!

The DEVs should consider that it is sometimes necessary to do one step backwards to get further.

Means, if something like that happens in an enterprise network, the IT would quickly make a fallback of the last patches/updates/modifies made. Especially if there is no cure at hand for a real workaround.
This buys time to test and plan the repatch more properly before deploying again.

But the more you wait searching the holy grail, the more angry the player's community will get.
Understandable, if you loose expensive ships in PvP or Incursions only because the game freezed.

And there isn't - unfortunetaly - even the slightest possibility to determine whoever lost a ship due to the freezies and who not, because the bug doesn't log in some way. So you can't reward those pilots for their losses - that would be at least fair.

Yes, i've witnessed a machariel and a maelstrom whitescreen in HQ's when the squads warped off and they died, i told them to petition it because it was the classic white screen issue and i will continue to help them out on writing petitions even if they really don't want to

Indeed. Happens quite often that a deployment we do actually causes a problem somewhere else, or something unaccounted for, due to a large development department working on multiple parts of either the client or the server side, but every single time we find such a problem, either on the service or on the client, we simply revert the last deployment.

It's not the end of the world and it's better than having a clearly broken client in production. But I've almost given up hope on CCP actually working like a real development company and actually give a **** about user feedback when they're reporting something broken.

Are we there yet??!?!?! Oops

EDIT: And although I appreciate the efforts from CCP Vertex, taking 2 ******* weeks to solve a problem like this is simply unaceptable without giving the users an option to revert the patch, similar to those made a while back, where you could remove the client patches if they caused you problems.

I don't ******* care about more fluff if it's causing the client to randomly freeze :|

Where is the beta client, as this constant alpha state is a joke! Cry

Stop developing new junk that does nothing and fix the bugs. please! Attention

btw the freeze seems to be related to a lot of junk on screen at once, as so far it's not happened to me other than fairly early in a big spawn mission...

Could Klang take the (now rotting) pizzas & the launcher out as they leave the building plz.

Hi guys, just wanted to give a quick update: I've probably logged over 20 hours of gametime on Tranquility since I last wrote about my client freezing problem. In all that time, zero new freezes to report. I haven't changed any settings, haven't cleared my cache, haven't even restarted the computer.....and no new freezes. I've warped to gates and not jumped through, I've warped to station and not docked, warped off and left ore behind, I've gone straight to CQ instead of my hangar, but new freezes? None.

I know I should've visited Sisi, but the maddening thing about this problem is that the interval between incidents is impossible to predict as also is the trigger. I wrote again because the absence of freezing clients on Sisi, at least in my case, wouldn't prove anything. How many tests have lasted less than 20 hrs of gameplay?

Even though nobody seems to have the error i have, i will drop my 2cents in here.

Because since the latest Patch (1.1.x) i experience a lot of computer-crashes during playing eve, not only client crashes.

The Issue seems to be somewhat "heat"-related on the GPU but that was just my first guess and indeed GPU temperature was unusual high (30 degrees above normal) and now I wonder if im actually the only one with this issue.

Surprisingly most Crashes happen while i run 2 or 3 EVE-Clients and then Start Pyfa.

I post a more complete Bug-Report with hopefully .dmp files when im back at home (at work at the moment).

Hi,

While we have made a bit of progress in looking into this (it happened for example once on my machine), we need to ask you for a bit more information to be able to resolve this faster.
Please respond with following information, if you experiencing freezing clients (which do not recover at all):

  • Number of running clients, when the freeze happened:
  • Full screen / windowed / fixed window:
  • Was the client minimized, when the freeze happened?
  • Audio enabled? (on how many clients?)
  • Was the character of the frozen client in a fleet?

Several of you have already given some of this information in earlier posts, but it would be great to have a bit more info on this.

Thanks!

Right, first off.

I have reloaded my PC and put windows 7 x64 back on instead of Windows 8 x 64 and i have the same issue.

clients running 15 (pre 1.1 i could run 20 no problem)
windowed and lowest res
My Graphic Settings
Clients where not minimized but Google chrome window was over them
No audio enabled at all on any of them also no eve voice
Sound Settings
yes all were in a fleet

i am often experiencing this issue is i lock my screen and log back in,
and
if i am aimlessly watching my screens.

When 1 of the clients becomes unresponsive it locks at a high CPU usage and my PC starts to jitter and i have to force close it before i can do anything else.

Lost an Enyo recently trying to see if this freeze/lag thing was gone (over 3 months I'm having this issue), loosing it to yet again another unresponsive client confirmed it was still there.

What do Socket Closed issues have to do with the issue being discussed here? Does your client freeze or do you get a Socket Closed? Those are two different things.

Pretty sure almost all of the socket closed issues are due to local ISPs or some hop along the route dropping packets. Either way, it's got nothing to do with the client freezing as when this happens, only the client is frozen (doesn't accept any input) but you're still in space, doing the last action you sent to the server.

Also, it's still not solved. Yesterday I had freezes all day long and on the last couple of hours last night (21 to 23 eve time) I had no crashes running 3 clients. The trigger for the freeze seems random.

I have been getting the same problem with the freezing of the screen, but the client is still running, I have 4 accts going at same time on one pc. 3 mining ice, and 1 that runs missions and incursions. I have learned one thing that has helped me out. I noticed if i turn all graphic settings on the lowest setting or disabled and turn all the effects off in the options I get no more freezes. I still have my mission runner/Incursion pilot at full graphics, I just do it for the 3 ice mining pilots. Graphics are **** at that point but i have not had any freezes for the past 3 days with more then 8hrs each day on eve. And I really don't watch the ice miners anyway.

Just an option some of you can try until a better fix is found, and not saying it will work for all but has worked for me.

white screened in an incursion: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/633613/Jing/2013-03-04_1536.png
which had a hand in making this kill mail happen: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/633613/Jing/2013-03-04_1647.png

but don't take my word for it, join an HQ incursion fleet and witness it yourself, ask what the FC's do all the time, they'll tell you it's reinviting people back into fleet that has DC

Edit: For the people that can't click on those links, yes, that is a 3.1 billion isk vindicator kill mail.
People are dc'ing left and right and as i left the fleet and started heading home, i over hear another machariel died because he wasn't on coms and he white screened [which means he stays in space and CAN NOT BROADCAST ANYTHING]. he relogs, tells us in fleet chat he clicked the option to 'wait for program to repond' because he didn't want to lose his machariel IRONICALLY. but that option just delays you infinitely until you close the eve client. I asked both of them to petition, hopefully they'll clogge up more petitions because CCP isn't caring enough to have a concern on this issue
