What would be a good ship to replace my Merlin?

I've been running lvl 1 missions in a Merlin with hybrid turrets to great effect until last night. I ran into rats with targetting jammers and obviously couldn't kill them. I trained electronic warfare and got an ECCM module, but there were 2 different enemy ships with jammers so I still couldn't lock. I asked around and everyone suggested a certain kind of missle (FF maybe?) or drones. Since my Merlin only has 3 turret slots I was thinking of looking for a ship with both turret and launcher slots so I can run drones as well. I am only skilled for Caldari frigates 4 and cruisers 3 (I only have about 3.8 mil and no medium weapon skills atm so I don't know if crusiers are really realistic). Any suggestions would be great.

You did activate the ECCM right?

Jamming is chance based so you might find that after 1 or 2 cycles of being jammed, you are able to target and kill them. Fitting an ECCM makes the chance less, fitting 2 makes it even more less.

If that fails try a Cormorant. It has slightly stronger sensors and kills a lot quicker.

Are you sure it was ECM and not Sensor Dampening?

If it was ECM, make sure you fit the right ECCM module for your ship.

For a Merlin that would be an ECCM Gravimetic in a mid slot, or a Gravimetric Backup Array in a low slot. As the previous poster said, make sure you activate the mid slot one (the low slot one does not need activation).

If it was Sensor Dampening, your lock range was reduced so much that you could not lock them. It this is the case you can fit Sensor Boosters in a mid slot to boost your range, or fly closer to them.

I ran into the same issue, but didn't replace my Merlin. I changed from blasters to railguns and long range charges so that I could take them out from a distance and not be jammed.

A viable alternative would be to train Gallente Frigate and fly an Incursus

Tristan would be better. Drones will happily keep attacking even if you don't have anything targeted.

Thanks for all the feedback. After some research today I came back into the game and realized I had bought a ECCM caster >.<. I bought a gravimetric ECCM module and was able to kill the rats. I now feel extremely smart.....
