I remember this feature back in... what red moon rising was it? They had to take it out because it ate up too much memory (at least the map loaded in the background) it seems though the stars remained the entire time. They didn't have the lines back then though...

Now they just need it to superimpose whatever filter I have selected on the F10 map while I fly. Oh look, 5 ships died in the last hour in the system i'm approaching.

Reminded of Star Trek, something like "Second star on the left and keep on till morning", that would be pretty cool.

Arguments on time spend aside it its still a really nice thing to add and makes the EvE universe seem even bigger, regardless of the three days spent Roll

If you can do what John DaiSho mentioned in three days too I would consider them well spent Big smile

Second star to the right and streight on till morning was peter pan, not star trek.

It'd be pretty easy to have the starmap actually reflect the real layout of Eve. The location of each and every system within the cluster is stored in the database as XYZ coordinates. With that information, calculating the relative position of all other starts to the system you're in (as well as how bright they should be) isn't all that difficult, and from there, drawing lines between them is rather simple.

Whether that's actually how it works (versus just being random or something) is a question for CCP though. Bear

I do like the fact that one can now optimize the current route without opening the map. However, it still cannot handle more than 10-11 waypoints. X

its called detail and immersion... maybe something you cannot feel because you are very left minded but some people experience a sensation of joy when they develope a sense of orientation.

Nice, but it doesn't handle multiple waypoints. At all.
You get disjointed bits of routes between the waypoints, but not the current one.

As someone who routinely makes multi-drop deliveries and pickups, it's a disappointment.

Just wanted to say that I love it too. Would love it even more if the first line connected back to the gate I'm heading towards and then some blue effect projected back from the gate all the way to my ship.

Yes, the quote was originally from Peter Pan.

Kirk used it at the end of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In addition to many lines from Shakespeare, famous lines seemed to be a running gag in that movie, most of them intentionally attributed to the wrong source.

"You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon." - Gorkon

"Perhaps you have heard Russian epic of Cinderella? If shoe fits, wear it! " - Chekov

"An ancestor of mine maintained that when you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." - Spock

"There is an old Vulcan proverb: only Nixon could go to China" - Spock

"Guess who's coming to dinner. " - Chekov

Anyway, this has been your daily dose of useless trivia. Enjoy!

Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that.     _ - Kina Ayami_

I, too, hate neat things with no real use. Let me guess, your home contains nothing that is nice to look at but completely useless. I'm going to lean towards mostly ugly and useless for your home decoration.
