This was discussed by one of the developers. It took 3 business days.

best three business days spen this release, except for the dev who changed the combat log so it doesnt clear during a session change. he/she is currently best dev.

I neither play EVE long enough nor am I bitter to qualify as such...

I guess I have come to the realization that I am not as much of a sucker for eye candy as I used to be. Cool

Were the in-space backgrounds generated or derived in some way from the 3D starmap itself?

Not all the stars you see are part of the bitmaps. The stars of the Eve universe are overlaid on top of the bitmap.

I really love it, too. One thing I would like to have added to it is being able to rightclick any star and set route to it.

In some way they are, but the stars on the background have nothing to do with the nebulas.

Reminded of Star Trek, something like "Second star on the left and keep on till morning", that would be pretty cool.

Arguments on time spend aside it its still a really nice thing to add and makes the EvE universe seem even bigger, regardless of the three days spent Roll

If you can do what John DaiSho mentioned in three days too I would consider them well spent Big smile

I assume the closer ones then. As setting a very long auto-pilot route gives you a route that fades out and seems to disappear beyond the next-ish constellation, or roughly 12 or so jumps.

Very interesting.

Remember how lots of brackets in space causes client issues?

but other than the pretty visuals ...

Why are u using autopilot anyway ???

I don't know if you're posting in a tongue-in-cheek manner or genuinely unaware that setting a route in space gives you what is called an auto-pilot route, regardless of whether you actually engage your auto-pilot.

Yeh, i really like this feature. It's the little things you guys put in each patch, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. It's awesome, don't ever change CCP <3

I think its a great feature, nice little immersion touch and they do represent your actual position rather than just being random lines to random stars.

Would be nice if there was a little info box for noteable systems to i.e. Jita being a trade hub, other systems with lore, etc.

How about a friendly sat-nav voice telling you about all the sights and places?

Hrm. It keeps reminding me of Skyrim, specifically the skill "trees."

The one other thing I'd like to see is another line drawn from the first star in the route to the relevant stargate.

I actually reported the lack of that line as a bug (When this feature first was on Sisi). It came back "intended behavior". OK, now its a feature request.

It annoys me when people say they only want the Dev's to focus on what they perceive as "useful". Let the Developers decide what is and what isn't useful. I for one love the change, it really adds to the immersion of the game. The little things tend to go a long way in such a big universe.

TBH as an option as a new player it would have gone a long way to engaging me more with the game.
