Pretty, but useless. I have already turned it off. Does anybody know what use it has besides drawing zic-zac lines on my screen?

I do like the fact that one can now optimize the current route without opening the map. However, it still cannot handle more than 10-11 waypoints. X

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

It's the little things like this that help the players emerge into the game. Well done.

I think its that the lines point to the stars as they are in space, for me this made the whole traveling seem even larger than it already is.

Did you actually try it? It is just a wild zic-zac on the screen and each time you jump does the screen flicker and the lines are somewhere else. Roll It is not as cool as I thought.

I wish they would do things that are useful rather than interesting. With the effort it takes to assign stars on each wallpaper for every system in Eve, one must wonder how much dev time went into this...Ugh

The stars in EvE are not just a random pattern, they actually represent your star map.

For the moment actually having the route you are going to take is simply another visualization tool... interesting (and helps with the immersion factor) but it does not claim to enhance functionality in any meaningful way. At this point it's really not intended to.

However the next step is to allow you to turn on star info overlays (if you wish) where you can hover over a star on your route and get info... perhaps even interact with it to a degree (remove from autopilot route, add to avoid systems, perhaps even hover to get access to all of those juicy details available through the map but just for the system you are hovering over). For new players especially I can see this being intuitive and engaging, giving even more strongly the impression of actually being in a living breathing high tech universe.

I'd be a little happier if that little line tracked back all the way to the gate you are going to be jumping out of, or even connecting all the way back to the gate you jumped in through. Heck, some people would probably like to see the route behind them as well (perhaps depicted with a different color line).

Still, no criticism from me for those that find it distracting. I'm just pleased that CCP provided the means to turn it on/off easily. It shows that CCP is coming to realize how important customization to taste is to our finicky generation of gamers... and that is a good thing.

This was discussed by one of the developers. It took 3 business days.

Stars representing actual points on the star map and in space has been in place for quite some time, you just had no way to visualize it before.
Adding the lines was a fairly trivial thing (not to take away from the dev that did the work).

You mean when the wallpapers got changed? That "some time" isn't much time. And all it means is wasted manhours a few months back, as opposed to last month.

Fortunately work flow priorities aren't handed out by "internet experts" at CCP. Smile

The one other thing I'd like to see is another line drawn from the first star in the route to the relevant stargate.
