C1/C2 Squatting

To get things started, this an alt, of course. So things are starting to slow down with the whole low sec pirate thing, and I'm looking for something different. I was thinking of setting up a small POS in a c1/c2 just for a week or two of carebearing. Of course it would go down at the first sign of danger or if I just got bored. I was wondering if I could break even on the tower, a corp hangar, and mabye a couple ships, provided I lose them. Making ISK really isnt important, I just want to try something new. Any advice would be appreciated. I know a good bit (I think) about wormholes from reading various guides and talking to corpies. And if I didnt mention this before, this will be solo woth the possible alt backup.

If you're just looking for something new then skip the POS. It's a pain in the hind parts and will make your experience less than what it could be. Just do some hi-sec diving.

If you're dead set on setting up a POS then knock yourself out, but you may have to look around for a bit in order to find an uninhabited C2. Their dual statics make them coveted systems.

Breaking even is a function of how much work you actually get done, but yes it's certainly within reach.

If you don't plan on farming the static, which would require rolling it . Why not just day trip to carebear instead of going to all the trouble of setting up a tower.

You will run out of what is in your system very quickly and being in a C1 or C2 not very profitable. Carebearing in WH space is about the static you have and being able to roll the hole. You may live in a C1 or C2 but your static may be a C3 or greater which means better profits. If you PVP you may live in a C2 but have statics of a 00, LS, or higher class hole.

If you don't plan on rolling the static then you just need to daytrip C1's, 2's and 3's.

Thanks for the advice so far. Im pretty much dead set on a POS for reasons that are beyond me. I'll be doing alot of scanning to find that one good hole, hopefully a C2 or LS(Pirate) static. After all, PvP is another form of farming.

In that case try to get a C2 static, in either a C1 or C2 wormhole system. That will give you plenty of access to other wspace systems and kspace. Just be sure to say "hello" in local whenever you come into a new system. Us wormholers are an honorable (honourable in Her Majesty's realm) lot and enjoy the socialization.

Damn, galactus. You seem to have a pretty serious butt-hurt problem. Nevertheless, you have my sincerest apologies for skipping out on your critical C1 Wormhole Space Static course. Please, tell me more.

If you want to set up a pos just to do it, knock yourself out but you will spend most of your earnings on pos fuel / time wasted hauling crap around. The best isk / time reward is just to day trip into either empty WH's or WH's where the locals are in a different TZ. Just raid and GTFO.

I think having a pos is over rated. After your first (or second, lolz) eviction you might come to understand.

Honestly in a C1 a well defended Large POS is generally left alone if you don't **** people off or convince them you have great stuff (IE lots of hangers, Carrier/Dreads/Orcas floating in the POS). On the other hand a small POS works if you don't actually anchor anything there, and keep everything in your Orca and log out in it. Just make sure the Orca fits probes, mwd, and a cloak, and you have an additional scanning alt in the hole that you always login 1st.

LOL. galactus probably was a bit over-the-top, but it does seem a bit sad for someone in a w-space alliance to not know this well-known and oft-discussed information about the possible statics from a C1. It's one thing for wh newbies to not know it. It's another thing for you to apparently not have a clue about it.

you overestimate the importance of C1s. If you have never lived in one, you probably wouldn't know that little tidbit. If your looking to make isk I would avoid C1s.
