i have over 4k scan rez, and still cant lock a pod before it warps away?

With the 1 second server ticks, my read on the mechanics is any scan res above around 3200 is kinda moot -- as you are already locking a pod at under a second with that res.

So, once your scan res is near 3200+ its more about clicking on the target with pre-heated point & weps the instant he appears.

As others have mentioned, if he is really on the ball and spamming warp before he pops, he has the edge on getting away; but you still have a good chance at getting him with a 3200+ res and low-latency internet connection. i.e. Get your 'pwn' packet to the server before he gets his pod's 'warp' packet there. If your missing pods with that res, its time to think about upgrading your internet connection sadly; not neccessarily downstream bandwidth, but upstream with a focus on lower latency.

prewarm guns and point, click in space not in overview and hope that the latency gods are with you.

So if you are not from USA you will be podded and you wont be able to pod others?

Don't try to point them, because that will most probably get delayed until the next physics cycle.
Shooting them, though, doesn't involve any disruption of movement.
Try that.
