Tactical Battle Carriers - GERAS

GERAS was a sibling of THANATOS that was the son of NYX [ for people who are wondering why the name ? ].

The idea of TBC [ Tactical battle carriers ] came to me after i concluded that some small fleets need to have heavy logistic ships that are capable of gate jumping and cyno jumping.

The basic idea is to get a smaller carrier that:

- has logistics - able to fit 2 capital remote armor / shield reps + 1 capital energy transfer + 1 other thing.

- own tank [needs to have a decent tank] - NOT ALLOWED TO FIT TRIAGE MODULE so the tank should be pretty strong as is

- gate jump [ imagine a small fleet jumping a null sec gate, the gate is camped and the fleet is vastly outnumbered, they don't have a cyno with them but behind the gate, a TBC is waiting orders to jump in for support. ]

- can cyno jump - Maximum Jump Range 3.25 [ half of a normal carrier ]

- roam around in high sec [ high sec wars would be more interesting ]

- doesen't have a giant mass so it can jump in and out of C2 and C3 without the wormholes collapsing [ imagine a small jumping in a C2 making some isk, killing some neutrals and jumping back out the same C2 wormhole ]

- can't fit drone control unit, can only deploy a maximum of 10 drones.

- can't have FIGHTERS / FIGHTER-BOMBERS only drones: ECM drones / support drones / light drones / medium drones / heavy drones / sentry drones [ imagine a new breed of SLOWCATS that are a little more versatile ]

- doesen't have the ability to refit in combat

- can dock in station [obviously since it's a smaller carrier type ship ]

So here is my idea of the:

GERAS - Gallente Tactical Battle Carrier

Bonuses:

25% bonus to Capital Shield and Armor transfer range per level
10% bonus to deployed drones damage / hp and mining yield per level
99% reduction in CPU need for Warfare Link modules
Can deploy 1 additional Drone per level
100% bonus to drone control range
7.5% increase to armor repair amount per level

Slot Layout:

High: 4 [ enough space for 2 remote capital armor / shield repairers + 1 capital energy transfer + 1 cloak or neut or smartbomb ]
Medium: 4 [ enough space for cap rechargers or omnidirectional tracking links ]
Low: 6 [ enough space for a really strong tank or a decent tank and some drone damage mods]
Rigs: 3 [ 400 Calibration ]

PowerGrid: 350 000 Mw
Cpu: 500 Tf

HitPoints [ basically since it's a smaller carrier it has 1/3 of the normal carrier in hitpoints but the same resistances] :

Resistances: EM / Thermal / Kinetic / Explosive

Structure: 50 000 - 0 / 0 / 0 / 0
Armor: 75 000 - 50 / 35 / 35 / 10
Shield: 30 000 - 0 / 20 / 40 / 50

Drone Bay: 1000 m3 [ enough to store 10 of light / medium / heavy and sentry drones + a little more space to store other types of drones or spare sets]

Drone Bandwidth: 375 Mbit/sec

FuelBay: 1500 m3 / Oxygen Isotopes

Corporate Hangar Capacity: 5000 m3 [enough space to carry paste / ammo and other stuff you might think your small gang needs or can store more fuel for long travels ]

Capacity: 500 m3

Mass: 600 000 Kg [ half of a normal carrier ] may enter C2 [but probably collapse them] may go in C3 and come back out.

Capacitor: 40 000 GJ [ 2/3 of a normal carrier ]

Targeting Range: 75 Km
Max Locked Targets: 6
Magnetometric Sensor Strength: 50
Signature Radius: 1 Km
Scan Resolution: 150 mm

Ship Maintenance Bay Capacity: NONE! or maybe just enough to carry 2 battlecruisers around but never an entire battleship.

Materials for Production:

Whatever CCP thinks it needs for production. Basically i would make 1/3 of all production components needed for a normal carrier + some planetary t3 and t4 commodieties.

Price range: Must be somewhere between 500 mil and 750 mil ... it can be disposable for a small corp but it can probably change the tides of battle.

Basically it would be a battleship sized ishtar / guardian vexor with a jump drive and logistic capability.

In fortunately if it has more than 5 drones, no gate jumping. Also no capital RR in high sec also, you could never field enough damage to destroy a spider tanking group of these.
When I saw battle carrier I thought something more offensive geared not a mini Thanatos.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

point taken ... no capital RR maybe just large RR capable. but i still think 10 DRONES not fighters should jump gates :D

Came here, was hoping to see a solid idea for turrets on a carrier that was not another logi drone boat.

Left disappointed.

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

Logis ships are already too overpowered, EVE doesnt any solopwnmobile that can jump, highsec docking games are saying a big and loud NO and basically your idea is bad.

I really liked the part where you think that it's a good choice for "small(er) gangs", when in fact it would just be a blob tool (small gang fielding some caps = doomsday, small gang fighting a cap fleet = not killing anything).

So no no no no and no.

actually it can..... dah... guardian vexor has 10 drones and guess what can use a jump gate....crazy isn`t it....the reason a carrier can`t use a jump gate its not because it can field more drones its because its to big and has to much mass then the gate can handle.
i like the ideea...but as other guys said lose the logistics bonus.....
add diffrent role bonuses like:

25% to drone microwarp drive.
make it use warfare links.
give bonus to ecm drones, like web drones and td drones and the rest.


As for high sec ...its cool to let them in....but make them act like super caps and not allowed to dock...if u want want in high sec u need to park it at a POS.Gate travel only in high sec.
No access with them in missions or any other combat pve(except for belt ratting) in high sec or it will render all ships useless.

Why? why cannot it be a defensive platform to protect others or something. You are saying it's a carrier. Carriers usualy carry something and cause it's tactical and battle also the name hints it should be in the middle of the fire fight and engaged in the combat and it would have something to deploy.

So frontline ship with something to deploy and your idea was drones and logistics. I just don't see it from the name. Something else is needed or the name should be something else. So how about turrets and something else nice. Mayby some ships that players can get into if they get podded. t1 frigates are way better than a pod Twisted
