The soaring cost of Plex...

Hi everyone,

I've been paying EVE for over 2 years and in that time the cost of buying PLEX in the game has almost doubled in purchase price.

The cost of mining and other game rewards has not gone up to reflect this inflation cost, so can someone shed any light as to why the cost of in-game plex gone up ? Surely with more and more people playing Eve, this cost should have gone down to reflect the swelling numbers of new players and the options available to buy more Plex.

This is frustrating, especially as Eve does not allow the use of bots to mine, so personally I find more and more of my game time, is spent mining, which lets face it, is a very tedious task and can take hours and hours of plain boredom, especialy if you only have 1 character (I have more than 1, however im sure you get my point here).

At least if you allowed bots to mine, they could take some of the tediousness out of the game and allow genuine game play as opposed to spending hours mining over and over just to attempt to be able to buy in game plex.

Has anyone else found the prices in the game for items as generally gone up over the past few years ?

I do apreciate that bots can be exploited and there are forces at large who will take advantage of this. My point here ISNT about bots, its about the rising cost of in game Plex.

Supply and demand..nothing else. Demand is outweighing supply I'd imagine.

Appreciate the quick comments, but with the average Plex in the region of between 550 and 650 million to buy a month's in game plex, the rewards have not risen in line with this price.

Don't mine then, do something more profitable.

Haha this guy really thinks that if we were all allowed to make AFK isk all day that the price of plex would go down.

What fantasy world do you live in?

Do people really think like this?

The fantasty universe I live in err that would be the Eve Universe!

and I'm not asking for the price to go down, I do have a grasp of economics, I'm just asking why hasn't the reward system risen in line to reflect this over the past few years.

I do missions too, however, if a newbie to the game starts with a month's membership then is hit with a 650 million cost of another month, is it farr to expect them in a newbie ship with simple mission to get to a standard where they can afford a 650 million cost bill to continue to play...

I'm just starting a thread, no bashing please.

Then they can pay for a subscription. Why should the game get to the a point where everyone is just buying plex? There's already enough inflation in the game as it is.

Why should it? You are assigning somethign to a market item, regardless of what the PLEX gives you it's just an item. The cost for this item has risen why should the "rewards" it gives you be increased?

E.g The cost of my petrol has gone up nearly 100% in 10 years but the petrol doesn;t last any longer in my car I just either have to pay it or don;t drive.

Look man, You are making the mistake of turning eve into a job. You have to "work" to get the isk to plex your alts. You are doing it wrong man, and will eventually stop playing out of frustration.

Just pay for your account subs, or are you really ok with making about a dollar fifty an hour.

Plex is cheap at the minute. It's hit about a 3 month low.
As someone said, supply and demand. Plex is far more in demand now than it originally was (perhaps partly due to the re sculpturing) and supply will never match as you have to pay real world money for it.

Mining, and most other activities, have gone up as well as it may not be entirely proportional but it must be close.
But no, CCP should never allow bots at it would offset the world economy if everyone was doing it. Just do something else other than mining. I find I can make 500mill in a a day or two of running level 4 missions once you include the LP rewards.

Perhaps I should re-phrase my initial thread topic. How about.

Hello all, I've been playing Eve for just over 2 years and mostly do Security level 3 and 4 missions and weekends of mining to supliment my eve ISK account. I usually stay with the high security regions as I find when I venture our, I get basted to crap by dozern of little (word removed) who wait for unsuspecting traders to get beyond safe areas,.

I'm finding it hard to keep up buying the monthly subscriptions of affording around 650 million isk for a month's extention and would welcome tips/comments on how I can raise these funds more quickly without the tedium of mining, transport missions and sec 3 and 4 kill missions within relatively high security systems.

Better.... ?

Are you saying that the trading of a Plex for ISK, causes inflation?

"I should be able to bit so I can buy plex"

That's what I read, and the op can say its not about bottling all he likes, he's full of it.

Guy wants to bot. Period.

trit. 4isk/unit 12 months ago, 6 isk/unit now. 50% increase in income.
plex. 480m 12 months ago, 530m now. just over 10% increase.

if anything, miners have an easier time plexing their accounts now than they did 12 months ago.

If you continue to read, I also say this thread isn't about Bots, I completely understand the need to not allow them, I'm simply commenting on my time spent mining which detracts from my overall game enjoyment.

which is less than the time spent mining than you were doing 12 months ago.

what *exactly* is your problem?

The problem is there isn't an easy answer, you can;t really base your playing on EVE on the ability to buy a market item (PLEX) then complain when market forces on the item cause it to become a problem.

I faced this choice a few years back, I either spend all my time earning money for plex or lose some accounts and just pay for the ones I used. I did the latter and EVE is interesting again for me basically for the fact I can spend my limited EVE time doing what I want to do and not being forced to rat, explore, scam just to PLEX accounts I used once in a blue moon.

PLEX unfortunately is a pox on EVE.
