OP - The game is heavily stacked against truly new players, probably more than any other MMO I have played. You pretty much need to want to play the game enough that you will patiently perservere thruough a 1000 reasons why you should quit, or you will not remain. The honest truth imho is that CCP wants to reward veteran players very much at the expense of new players. It is an interesting business model. I would have thought it would have failed, but it has been going a long time from what I have read.

Now that is fine with me. It is kind of what I wanted. My determination is to grit my teeth and endure it, read and learn as much as I can, and eventually become one of those veterans. If you stay and persevere, and you have the gray matter to learn it, then it seems to progressively get better.

The model is fine with me, especially since I am not a stock market investor in the game and pay the same whether it has 40,000 customers or several million. Like I said, I was looking for a game more smart veteran friendly than newbie welcoming, and I sure found it in EO.

My only fear is that the game dies off from the lack of new blood and departing veterans due to the model before I am tired of it.
