So I'm thinking about starting a corp.

After recently reactivating, I waited 3 days until there was a blue fleet in my play times. We spent 2 hours roaming around finding nothing and then got a 50 ship fleet hot dropped on our 12 man cruiser and down gang. The experience I had in a very active Amarr FW corp was the same - generally roaming for 3-4 hours with no engagements. In thousands of hours of playing Eve I've probably only had one good fleet fight. (tactical fleet fights being the reason I want to play the game)

Anyways - My plan is to start a corp called "Meta 3" or something along those lines and join a losing FW alliance. We will only fly Meta 3 tech items or below (Tech2 is generally meta 5). I'm hoping because of this we can encourage small man fleet fights being that I could probably subsidize all or most of the cost of the lower meta ship mods - and people don't have much to lose.

I'm still generally a noob at pvp and corp management, what can I expect if I plan to do this? Would people join? Is it a pipe dream?

As a space-poor loser, I approve PVP on the cheap. Although I don't advise getting mad at your people for using T2 weapons mods (gyros, mag stabs, etc...) because they're actually easier to fit than the metas. Godspeed, sir.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

It sounds like a solid concept.

There's much more than a good concept required. Be aware that most corps fail and an even higher percentage of corps with first-time CEOs fail. Don't be upset if that happens, learn your lessons from it, and keep at it.

Try it. But a few things.

Do not give out roles lightly.
Recruitment can be difficult, but be aware and careful of who you invite. Little or no roles for new recruits, is advised.

Above all, remember it's a game and try to focus on fun. Not everyone will like your style of leadership, but sh*t happens.

You may want to check out C&P to answer this question....

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I just un-rented an office that started at 5 mil, then rose to 10, to 15, to 35 million for March's bill

nope

imo, corp leadership is something built with irl friends. (get them to play)

I think you will have the same issues, unless you set up, like RvB with negotiated fights.

You roam for hours without finding kills, because any group smaller than you, or not also roaming for PVP, hides from you. When you do get a fight, it is from a larger group that tricked you into the fight because...in general, people only fight when they are pretty darn sure they can win.

If you fly around in cheap ships looking for a fight, what you will find is anyone that you can beat runs and hides, and when you do get a fight, you lose badly, unless you are using the same tricks that you dislike, such as hot drop, to lure people into a fight that they can't win.

Outside of negotiated fights like RvB, fights happen when both sides think they can win. One side is correct and the other side is wrong.... be the side that is correct by using the same tricks that are making others correct right now.

Okay thanks alot for the info.
I wish there were more arranged fights I feel like even in RvB it's hard to set up.

OP you should try frigate roams. They are incredibly fun, and incredibly cheap if/when you get out-gunned. A few weeks ago five of us killed a Proteus, a Talos, a Megathron, and a bunch of other ships, with just 5 frigates. Of course some of them were electronic attack ships like the Keres, but still frigates. Make a corp dedicated to frigates and I'm sure you'll draw a lot of people because experienced PvPers know how much fun they are.

Not knowing your play time, (and why should I, stinking blues Lol) all I can say is RvB has fluctuations. FCs switch sides (kikkio use to be red), people's activities fluctuate, things change. I would suggest patience. Give a week or two and red will gain new fcs, more fights will occur, all will be well. Then red will dominate, you'll get mad, recruitment will fill the blue roster back up, and they will dominate. Just be a little more patient as honestly, that is the biggest part of eve.

Heck, have you tried to join one of the gank roams on the weekends?

As for starting a corp... Good luck. You have little to nothing to offer, so why would people join you?

How about trying this.... Switch to red. Start fcing, get good at it and understand what to target, when to run, etc. Then once you are a competent FC, make a corp. This way you can offer something at least. And I will say RvB is one of the easiest places to start fcing. No where else will you find 20 people willing to lose ships so fast, keep fighting, and offering tips as you go

Listen to this guy. He's an expert at being a terrible CEO.

Big smile

Seriously though...do it. Just like anything else in Eve, it will go best if you start out expecting to fail miserably and are pleasantly surprised when the end doesn't come immediately.
