Had something happen to me yesterday and was just curious how the rest of the community feels. I applied for a corp that requested full API access, but I was blocked by the recruiter because I refused to give it. Now, I have nothing to hide, but, like in real life, I dont let anyone know how much money I have in my bank account. That was the only thing I refused to show, have no problems with anyone seeing what I buy or where my money goes, just nothing in my wallet. If the recruiter would have responded as to why seeing my wallet is essential to me being recruited I probably would have allowed it but due to him just blocking me, I am left in the dark. So, Guess my question is why was that a deal breaker and what does looking at the wallet show that the transactions tab doesnt.

It's a normal screening process. It's good to see you have a healthy level of paranoia though.

Also, let this thread serve as a list of mistakes not to make for prospective thieves and spies.

- Spend a little time running the NPE missions and maybe some epic arc stuff to build a legitimate history.
- Don't send your character isk. Instead, buy what is needed and transfer it in space so no logs are generated.
- If you steal items, also transfer those to another character in space.
- Don't mail your friends from your infiltrator character.

Alternatively, Buy PLEX in Jita, Contract it to a second character on the infiltration account, Reverse redeem those PLEX, delete the contractee character, redeem PLEX on infiltration alt and sell PLEX.

Looks exactly the same as "I bought PLEX" and is safer than in space transfers.

These checks are never to catch competent spies/corp thieves. Those will get in anyway. But there are a lot of idiot corp thieves/gankers that API checks will discourage, so they're worth doing. If you find a corp that doesn't do API checks, either they're smart enough to have other safeguards in place or they're dumb enough that you don't want to be with them and should just steal from them/gank them after awhile anyway. Take the information you get from an API check (or lack thereof) and use it as you will.

Having API info on a player can be helpful. Some corporations demand it. It is then a matter of attitude and some recruiters do not give a damn if they do not get all they want. Do not bother about it. You do not want to be with them and they do not care for having you.

That goes both ways, if she refuses to give her API key, if I were the corp recruiter, I'd probably won't give a damn about her app either. Most corporations that don't bother to ask for a full or some variations of different key masks is probably not worth joining at all, for various reasons.
