I have failed carebearing...

So i started playing EVE a few months ago, had a little break for guild wars 2, got bored of grinding, came back to shoot more things.

My experience has mostly been in high-sec. I'd had a few little forays into low, usually ended with my **** exploding, but it was good fun all the time. Messed around in wormholes and left some lewd cans around peoples bases.

Started of mining, can mined my way to my first Procurer, also my only one, because somehow no one ever bothered to shoot at me even when i was flying around with nothing fitted but a Strip Miner fitted and a hold full of ore.

Alas i bored of mining, because staring at rocks all day was boring and took so much time to make any real money, so i decided to try my hand at station trading, i trained up my skills and started buying low at one place and selling high at another, it was ok money, but it was time consuming, i stopped that soon enough.

I thought that maybe i should try PI, i mean, if everyone else is making millions while not doing anything, surely i can, i found out very quickly that i was in over my head and lost most of my money, ehh, it happens.

So then i decided to try and be useful, shot down in seconds because no one trusts a 6 month old character and believes that someone named "Zol Interbottom" could possibly be a main, although i made some money doing it regardless.

Eventually i fell down onto running missions, and i ran those missions, and i ran and ran and ran those missions, eventually a nice person in mission chat gave me some money to buy a proper ship for running L3's after i asked if my Catalyst could run them, so i ran more missions and realized that i was still a while away from L3's, so i eventually gave up on that, i couldn't grind my way through them until they were profitable in any real sense of the word so i stopped while i was only mostly behind.

So here i am, 12.7 million in my wallet, less than 50m worth of ships and 10m worth of junk after 3 months of actual subscription.

I have failed high sec carebearing, i am a blight among the blinged out billionare carebears that inhabit high security space, coming the end of my subscription in a few days i will remove myself from your presence.

and no, you can't have my stuff, if you really want it i can dump it in a can near jita

Sorry to hear that you're done with EVE. It's such a shame as, I believe, this game provieds a rewarding gaming experience that is unrivaled in today's market. Have you tried getting into a decent corp that would be willing to help you learn and give you tips on how to make decent money? That's what I did and it helped quite a bit. Don't get me wrong, it by no means made me rich but they at least pointed me in the right direction and I've been able to make enough money to do what makes me happy in EVE; which is PvP in low and null. I'm terrible at it but it's definitely fun.

Give it one more go before you call it quits OP.

Going the honest routes in this game makes it hard to make a living your first 3 months. You are about to quite however just as things will start to get easier. By month 4-5 I was plexing an alt, and it all just spiraled from there. The biggest thing with EVE is you need to find what you like to do and be persistent. If what you like to do is make money and you are a young toon you are best to seek the help of others.

Either way specialization is the key to maximizing profits in this game.

That said some just play the game for fun with no regard to the wallet. Typically those players are funded by other means.

1) join a null-sec entity.

2) purchase salvage ship and tag along behind hubs to make 100m+/hour (noctis)

2a) read (and train) up on 'blaster ratting'

3) after 60 days of training (from zero) run hubs yourself for 100m+/hour (talos/naga)

4) use wallet to enjoy eve

5) Bonus: while doing all that, you interact with other people!!

1) Make an alt
2) Train into a racial destroyer with close range weapons
3) Join a small to medium size Mining/Industry corporation
4) Introduce your new corpmates to pvp
5) Go back to step 3

Do that a couple times and you might find a bit of enjoyment in this game.

Using a weapon as a deterrent in a diplomatic situation is only viable when you have proven that you have deployed it in the past and are willing to use it in the future.

You mean "pvp". The EVEO forums has declared that it will not recognize: Bumping, Ganking & Awoxing as "pvp".

Also of note, the EVEO forums have been declared a free-fire zone. You may be exploded by random badposts and assaulted by internet trolls at any moment.

Oh jeez, I'm in clear violation of all three of those! How will I ever carry on playing outside the proper conduct expected of the average EVEO poster?

Well clearly, hi-sec isn't where you will find enjoyment in this game you clearly aren't meant to be carebearing. Join a low-sec or nullsec corp and you will probably find a lot more enjoyment.

The key to this game is try a bunch of different things until you find one that you really like, then stick with it and specialize in it. Eventually you will be making so much cash that you won't know how to spend it all.

Not everyone in hisec is a space trillionaire...I'm totally space poor. A few things that helped me when I thought I was done with the game :

Join RvB for some cheap pew-pew.

Help some noobs with harder missions or isk.

Exploration.

As Corey mentioned above me, travel to strange locales within Eve.

This OP is a perfect tl;dr on why highsec is terrible. Seriously, join an established 0.0 alliance, forget all that carebearing crap and begin to enjoy this game for the first time.

I'm an idiot for not doing it but this is probably the best way to enter the game and enjoy it.

I have a PI alt, a Market alt and Mining/Production alt. I also have this guy (main) for pvp/ratting/missioning/exploring etc.

I'm not rich in any way because I pretty much half ass all of it but it pays the bills.

Point being, I like EVE because of all the stuff that you can do and I like to do a lot of it, so when I get bored doing one thing, I have plenty else to mess around with. Also pvp is awesome.
