L4 in a Legion

After seeing a few "Tengu L4 mission fits" threads, I'd like to know what fits are good for L4's in a Legion? I'd like to avoid the cross training necessary to fly a Tengu and its modules.

The missions in the area I'm flying seem to be up against the Blood mostly, so EM/Thermal resistances would take priority, but I guess those can be switched out as needed to another type.

Thanks in advance :)

Being Legion, it will be less effective than BS for l4, not more. Not all t3s are equal.

To elaborate, the Tengu is the only T3 that can combine raw damage with damage projection. The others are stuck with some combination of a sub-par set of drones (drone Proteus), short range missiles (HAM Legion and also HAM Tengu), or medium guns (all). Only the HM Tengu can throw out competitive DPS to BS ranges. With its range bonuses, the HAM Tengu is actually the next best option, still beating the others by a decent margin but under-performing compared to the HM Tengu.

All in all, a vanilla Apoc does better than a Legion, especially considering the Legion is in the unenviable position of having a tank bonus (exp/kin) that completely mismatches its (laser) damage bonus (em/therm).

Not even. It only gets 2/3rds of the range of the Tengu and can't fit as many damage mods Ugh. But I guess it makes up for it with selectable damage type?

even with three faction heatsinks and max sub system skills, maxed gunnery suupport skills using a legion is SLOW!
I know this 1st hand.

better off using a bs.

I tend to disagree with some of my fellow legion users

A pulse laser legion will do well in most lvl 4 missions and just like any amarr ships it works best against their natural enemies , sansha and bloodraiders

And only difference with a tengu is indeed the damage projection , with scorch i can reach up to 45 k plenty of space and time to kill any webbing frigate which usually pop in one or 2 shots once rats are in 15 k range i switch to MF and use my faction webber for max damage
just like a tengu you speed tank , only danger is when the rats spawn long distance out you will get alot of incoming damage before you are close enough to speed tank them properly ,

and just like the tengu it is very vulnerable to web scram combo s

and yes while it might do mission slower if you are not after isk/hour missioning it is a great and fun ship to fly

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire

ITT people imply that the tengu is as good as a BS for running level 4's.

Please pass the hallucinogens. Thank you.

As a BS? Definitely.
As a faction BS? Debatable.
As a pirate BS? No.

Well, that's the difference: the Tengu isn't particularly vulnerable to webs or scrams; the Legion is. The Tengu will do pitiful damage to those close-orbiting frigates, but it will still kill them in just a few volleys — the Legion won't hit them at all, and does not have any other means of getting rid of them.

he didnt ask how fast you can do it in a legion. he just mentioned what fits can run them. so, heres one i have found and tested.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/55409-My-Legion-for-Missions.html

I have one more hardener mod on mine for a little extra tank, but it does work. this thing can tank and go through l4's no problem

Stan Smith had a snow storm over weekend guy was shoveling snow outside, so i shot him and mined the snow myself. concord never showed up. on an unrelated note, i have a court date next tuesday

webs ftw. even one webber is enough for a spider drone. tested this

The Legion can run L4 relative easy, use a web for Missions with lots of webbing frigs/spider drones. As for kill speed, the amarr BS are faster, given her higher damage and ranges.

a very similair setup as mine except i don't use that many faction items only the AB armor repairer and the webber are faction and i replace one of the tracking computers with a fed stasis webifier

As said before not the fastest missionrunner but i tmlakes up in pure fun and elan

Had a Legion T2 fit for a few weeks, and comparing it to my Tengu was just embarassing. Sold it, and now I'm playing with Loki while serious L4 running is done in my Tengu.

Did some running in 0.0 with a unprobeable legion for drone/Ammatar missions. Was not as bad as people made it out to be - and I was running with a gimped unprobeable fit whose only tank was an EANM and a faction SAR as well as the AB. DPS was less than the Tengu but this was ameliorated by faster killing of frigs at range, which is pretty key versus Ammatar.

Lack of web also meant frigs had to die first, but that typically wasn't too hard to manage. I wouldn't recommend Legion for general usage, but for blitzing specific missions (gotta blitz, or else your cruiserness is a complete waste) that it's got the proper damage for it's certainly no slouch.

So the general consensus is that I should sell my Legion, and use the isk towards something better? I can currently solo some/most missions in my Abaddon, and my Apoc...and if I'm paired with a friend I have no issues.

Disappointing.

This is the best mission legion I could cook up without going nuts with deadspace stuff. 20km range with T2 HAMs, decent tank and speed, 718 dps so should chew up BSes fast once in range, the web is critical for killing smaller stuff (and keep some javelin missiles in the hold). Get a BS for blood/sansha missions and turn the legion into an incursion boatBlink (legions actually work quite well in vanguard fleets).
