This is incorrect, if you are at 0 velocity (which you are after you jump through a gate) the direction your ship is facing has absolutely no influence on allign time. Infact from 0 velocity the only thing that has effect on allign time is how long it takes to reach 75% max velocity, no matter which direction it is in.

For the game mechanics the direction your ships facing when standing still has 0 meaning.
