Take a look at it this way....

Don't think of eve as a game, it really isn't a game at all.

Think of eve as a playground.

it's got swings, slides a sand pit and a merry-go-round, how much fun you get out of it though will be due to who you're playing with, your own imagination and what games you create.

eve is a terrible game, but it's a fantastic playground.

Deep down, EVE is a game where enjoyment boils down to just few simple things...

1. Find what you enjoy and do just that. Sounds simple? It should be.
2. Find a group of people who enjoy doing the same things than you do, and do it when you do. Again, very simple even if time consuming to find the right group that is fun to play with, even on the occasions you have to do the dull stuff.
3. Get involved with that group of people, start planning on how to become one of the big shots in whatever it is that you do. Start taking risks and you'll start getting some actual success. That success will allow you to shrug off losses that inevitably happen with those risks, but at the same time it'll keep you interested.

Or then you can go back to mindless grinding and dull waiting games... Up to you.

Well...actually you have already understood what makes EvE fun...you set your own goals and go after them, hopefully you have set a goal for stuff that you actually like to do :)
From your post there is no way to tell what you do find fun, other than you do not like missions (thats what sleeper sites are, when done with a good group) and gatecamping, but what do you like?

I left WHs for basically the same reasons that you do feel now. We were set up very good, everything was working...it became boring. There were no further plans to expand or progress, the others where okay with the way things were and enjoyed flying bling ships without having to care for the ISK, but I didn´t.

Now I am in lowsec and building up some kind of hub there, making little progress every now and then and I am very happy everytime something I have set up is being used by the surrounding forces.

So in the end, do exactly what you already know you must do, find yourself a goal that you will have fun playing towards. That might mean you have to start something new from scratch, but that can be very rewarding and thrilling.

Good luck!

I had left EvE because I ran out of things to do and left in search of a game that better fit my short play times(kids).
I missed EvE's long term goals, single shard and meaningful game play.
So I asked CCP for short activation to see the changes.
I am a member of a good corp that is active in a lot of area's but here has been my experience.

Day 1 I log in and get my stuff together and move to my corps new empire AO, and red frog the rest(thanks)
I grab a new destroyer and figure to do some missions... Well I can only pull level 1's and that is no fun(not that 4's are). so do few and release i have no intention of grinding that faction. I did a few with a newbie corp mate.

Day 2 a buy a WH fit, and do a level 4 WH. Got say it was boring. Every encounter was known and scouts made it feel fairly safe. The corp had it down to a fine science. I locked tags and the biggest task was not forgetting to orbit or swap targets while reading the internet.

Day 3 real life

Day 4 I went out to 0.0 on a small pvp roam. all I had was tackle but that is fine. made about 20 jumps and only ever managed to gank a drake and a couple noob ships in 4h of play on different gates.

Day 5 more pvp on a gate camp in cloakie ships....no real fights. We ganked or ran.

Day 6......I played another game.

WIthout any real goal or objective to work towards.....i had nothing to do.
Once you have ISK and skills and your corp is well set up.....what do you do?

I mean I felt i did most of things in eve. how am i to get sucked back in? I don't need isk. What am i to work towards when i log in. What fun game play can I do during my log in period?

I mean sure there are corp goals but sitting on a random gate didn't really feel all that helpful.
There is much to love about eve but entertaining game play is just not there. Give me a goal to work towards and make it fun.
I expect to get flamed but won't reply because you can't post after your account expires but I will read.
(3bil isk and 50mil skills all sub cap...so not super elite but can do anything non capitol related))

-some perma noob who was looking for some fun.

Eve is a sandbox - your "fun" is what you make of it.
For me, in rl I like to fish. On days where I am feeling active, I walk my beach (roaming) and hit all the jetties looking for fish. Other days when I'm feeling lazy I plop down on my beech and throw out my bait (camping) waiting for the fish to find me. Eve is my online equivalent of fishing. Some days I roam, some days I camp. As I get older, I find I'm camping more and roaming less, but I'm playing the way I like it and its fun for me and that's what is great about eve.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

Send me all your isk and assets, I'll make good use of them. Start everything from the scratch with a new character and rebuild everything you are able to give me, if you manage to do it, this would be unbelievable !

You just dont have enough imagination about what you can do in here. CCP will never be able to add enough to EvE so that it feels awesome and incredible all by itself. You will always have to use whatever is given to you to make your own incredible story. You cant code such a thing.

So you can demand as often as you want that CCP fills the universe with more content, in the end it will have to be you that makes the content for yourself.
If I would be the one that decides what needs to be done its a POS revamp, with so many possibilities that every player would want their own one. Highly specialized and individualized, so that you would plan and build it over a long time...and then someone would want to destroy it *ahem*

Stuff

You just need an objective. Example... Look for the person to first kill you in your past losses. Hunt them down and make their life utterly miserable. Or, just try and think of someone you really don't like.... or even something that you don't like about the game. Then... change it.

Don't like the fact that all of nullsec is one great big blue blob? Join a big powerful alliance, spread viscous rumours about their allies, recruit others to your cause. Cause all of nullsec as we know it to fall apart.

Or wage war against those highsec miner bumpers... or something. Anything, just find something that inspires you, or means something to you, and go for it. None of that half assed crap. If you want capital ship combat, do some research and find the best capital ship combat guys around and try and get in. Rooks and Kings are pretty awesome.

You set the goals and it is you that define meaning in EVE. Don't blame the game if you fail to do that. It is by design.
